On the edge of this parking lot, behind a chain link fence, lives a groundhog. He lives behind this large crack in a cement wall, and comes out often in the evening to eat. The other evening, we saw him again. He ran and hid in his home.
And then I noticed that He must have been a She, because there was a baby out there.
The baby stayed out, because he had not learned to be afraid of people yet. So the mom kept encouraging him to come inside.
Baby got the message, and in he scooted!
And Mom gave me a look as if to say "So THERE!" We left to let them come back out and eat in peace.

How fun to watch! What a great sighting.
Nice sighting of the groundhog and its baby. Lol! Mama groundhog gave you that look. Hope they remain safe.
How fun. When my shed was in the back yard I had one living underneath it. It would come out every evening and munch on grass.
wow, I want to see a groundhog, we don't have them here. our yard has a lot of wildlife but nothing this cute. I heard the owls this morning, they were in the tree accross the street from us. At least I know they survived the removal of their tree
Does this mean 1,000 more weeks of Summer?
Awwwwwwww!! Yes, it definitely is baby season! How darling!! ~Andrea xoxo

Oh my gosh, Ginny, your post hit home for me today. The other day, I saw what I thought was a squirrel going into the crack in my drive way. It freaked me out because I don't like any rodents, along with the groundhog. I'm glad you are more patient with them than I am. You're right, the baby squirrels aren't afraid yet and will scurry about on my lawn gathering pine nuts. I was wondering why they aren't afraid like the big squirrels, and now I know. Oh Ginny, I wish I was more tolerant of these critters like you are. But Yikes, they scare me.
