Bones

Let me begin by saying that we have never celebrated Halloween, not even when our son was growing up. We do decorate for Fall though. But it is interesting to see what some people do with their houses, and I can appreciate people's decor. Here are some of the more unusual skeletons in the neghborhood.

For some reason, this one has a fish skeleton companion!

This one's just hanging around.

This one is some kind of strange animal in a tree.

This one is a witch and her cat skeleton companion.

This one looks very cranky. Probably because his t-shirt is ill fitting.

This one is a light show that spins around and around, and is projected on a house It was very hard to snap!

And this one is self explanatory.

“Somehow, we have come to the erroneous belief that we are all but flesh, blood, and bones, and that's all. So we direct our values to material things.”

Halloween 2022

This house in town built their own cemetary, fence and everything, in their front yard!

Their walkway is lined with shrunken head skulls.

“But let me tell you something wonderful, a mystery I’ll probably never fully understand. We’re not all going to die—but we are all going to be changed. You hear a blast to end all blasts from a trumpet, and in the time that you look up and blink your eyes—it’s over. On signal from that trumpet from heaven, the dead will be up and out of their graves, beyond the reach of death, never to die again.”

1 Corinthians 15

Sunday Sunset

Here are the Chimney Swallows flying into the chimney for the night. They come when it is almost dark. They circle around and around it endlessly before they finally go inside.

Epitaphs

This yard is at the top of the hill on our street. They have put out these clever tombstones with epitaphs on them of things that are "dead".

Late Bloomers

On Monday, we saw these flower bushes in front of the doctor's building. I couldn't believe they were blooming this late in the year!!

Scully

Scully sits in the waiting room of our pain doctor. He has his faithful dog beside him. He is the office mascot every October. This is a cute couple, and I'm making no bones about it.

Psycho

There is a house on our street that I lovingly refer to as "The Psycho House." Just because it reminds me of the movie of the same name. Every October, they hang these screaming ghosts out the windows. And every October I post them. Living in this house, who would not be led to scream every so often?

“Yesterday, upon the stair,
      I met a man who wasn't there.
      He wasn't there again today,
      I wish, I wish he'd go away.
When I came home last night at three,
The man was waiting there for me
But when I looked around the hall,
I couldn't see him there at all!”

The Pumpkin Man 2022

The Pumpkin Man has finally hauled his goant pumpkins out front for all to see. My followers of a long time will remember that he lives a few blocks away, grows them in his backyard, and has won many awards. Here are this year's offerings.

Here is our granddaughter sitting on one from maybe six or seven years ago.

Mummy Braces

This dental work was found on a 4,000 year old mummy. Wow, the intricate tooth work amazes me. Looks like some kind of braces. Now I am wondering if they had some kind of substitute for novacaine.

A Fall Visit

We made a fall visit to the Garden Center. Come with us! These are some of the trees we passed.

Here are scenes from the lobby.

They had draped their garden flags over the customer service counter. They made a cheerful sight, almost like a mural.

They had these bulbs sitting up there.

The entrance to the greenhouse.

I did buy one thing. This cute little succulent. It was only four dollars.
