Tonight was the Super Harvest Moon. We went up on a hill to watch it rise. After getting there in the gloom, we noticed some hay that had been bailed and left in the tiny field.
It looked pretty with the mountains behind it.
But the moon was definitely the star of the show tonight, huge and bright.

You may remember awhile ago I posted a sloth that someone had carved from the tree in their front yard. Well, the sloth is now ready for Halloween!
The other day, a zillion starlings were swirling through the air, settling down on fields, then back up, making patterns in the sky. This is called murmuration.
They loved the barns, because of the big fields.
Other barns we passed on the way home.
Plus a lot of teeny tiny storage barns!
Here is a beautiful photo of starling murmuration that I found on the web.
Mozart had
a pet Starling, probably the most famous of this amazing species in captivity.
He was incredibly fond of his bird, and even wrote a eulogy for the Starling
when it died. He also noted, in his journal, an instance of the bird
“re-writing” a portion of one of his musical pieces. He described a section of
Piano Concerto No. 17 in G. He recorded the modification the bird had sung and
wrote, “That was fine!”
We were at our granddaughter's cross-country run today. Many people had brought their dogs with them, as it was a large grassy area. But one dog stuck out to me. I have never seen one like it.
He has the build of a Corgi, but Cocker Spaniel ears and tail.
Maybe I should say "her" because the dog appeared to be pregnant, but also acted very old. The kids were all over him.
Would anyone know what breed this dog is? Or maybe a mixed breed? I think it is unusual looking for sure.

company and need lonely.”

Twilight, that's the time our four o clocks open up. They only open in the evening, and are all closed up in the daytime.
“Twilight - a time of
pause when nature changes her guard. All living things would fade and die from
too much light or too much dark, if twilight were not.”

Because of the weather, pumpkin growers have been having a hard time. We have only seen one pumpkin stand so far. We passed it last week, and it is a nice one.
Here is a good view of the mountain behind it, can you see the cows?
Here is a peek inside, all my shots were taken from the car as we drove by.
And a shot of the cows in the pasture behind it.
“I can smell autumn
dancing in the breeze.
The sweet chill of pumpkin and crisp sunburnt leaves.”
