The Ginkos were in bloom awhile ago. We came across this one that had dropped it's leaves all over a car under it.
Here are some other pretty ones around town.
You can tell Ginko trees because their leaves look like little fans. The memory drug Ginko Biloba is made from the dried leaves.
They are living fossils, having survived the
Jurrasic period and existing unchanged for 270 million years. This makes
it the oldest tree on earth, a living link to the dinosaurs. This is a Ginko leaf fossil from millions of years ago!
- · They can grow for thousands of years. There is one in China that is 3,500 years old.
- · Four Ginkos survived the Hiroshima bombing. They were charred, but still live today.
- · You can tell them by their fan shaped leaves. Ginkos have no relatives, they are one of a kind.

They are beautiful. I've heard of them but didn't know much about them.
Glorious golden!
Wow, that's quite a dumping of leaves on that car. I love when the Ginkos change to the bright yellow. Ours is loosing its leaves now too.

Gingko trees are so pretty. I chuckled thinking of the cars 'buried' in leaves.
I love those little fan leaves of the Gingko trees.
Beautiful! We were in South Carolina last fall and saw the Ginko trees there. I had never seen one before and they were golden just like these.
Great photos! The colors of the ginkgo tree is incredible and I have always loved the shape of their leaves. Thank you for sharing the info on them too, to think that dinosaurs walked amongst them. Absolutely mind boggling.
Thank you for posting the Ginko Tree - they are one of my all-times favorite trees - my mother loved them, and this reminded me of her.
TG and I enjoyed the gingko trees of Pittsburgh! They are everywhere there, and the fan-shaped leaves such a happy yellow! xoxo
Oh, I love to see the trees when the leaves have fallen, and these are really nice pictures, Ginny. That is amazing that the Ginko leaf fossil has been around for millions of years! It's such a beautiful tree with it's bold golden color.
