The Thanksgiving That Wasn't

I hope all of my wonderful followers had a splendid Thanksgiving! We were unable to get together with our family because of being ill and contagious, so I will tell you about our Thanksgiving that wasn't. For something that wasn't, it was pretty good!! We had all planned to go to the Chinese Orphanage program at a local church Wednesday evening. Son, daughter-in-law, and granddaughter all went and these are the pictures they took. They dressed Anne in her Chinese dress and had a wonderfully touching evening with beautiful children and music. I enjoyed seeing what I missed. While they were there without us, a friend dropped by and gave us these beautiful flowers and fruit basket!! Then today, more friends called and prayed for us over the phone. Our son came by and dropped off two plates of their home cooked Thanksgiving meal, so yummy! Thank you to my wonderful daughter-in-law, Melissa!!! Then at the end of the day, our little granddaughter called to tell us she missed and loved us. Like I said, for something that never happened, this was a pretty good Thanksgiving!!

"...giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of the saints in the kingdom of light. For he has rescued us from the kingdom of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the son he loves, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins."
Colossians 1:12

Having food delivered isn't bad, because there are no dishes to clean. (my least favorite household chore)

I wish you a wonderful rest of the week. God bless us, one and all!

I'm so sorry to hear that you and Phil are so ill. Even though I know you were disappointed not to do everything as planned, you sound upbeat and accepting and enjoying what you can--I love that attitude in you.

I hope that by now the medications have started working their magic for you.

Anne Marie is very beautiful in her red dress. What a joy!

Take care.

Best,
Bonnie

I am glad that you were able to realize at least that you have folks who love you and think about you even when you are not there. I hope you are both feeling better very soon.

You are one of the most positive people I know, Ginny. You have a wonderful family who treasure you both. That's plenty to be thankful for. Hope you're better soon.

It sounds as if your Thanksgiving That Wasn't Turned out to be pretty good, even if you couldn't be with your family. The nicest thing is that you know how many of us care about you and are praying for you. Hopefully soon both of you will be well and can get out and about again.

Ginny: The basket of ornaments is just sitting on a chair in the dining room. The color on the walls is the true color. You can't quite see it in the photos of the room.

Hope you are feeling better.

Best,
Bonnie

I saw your site on Mildreds and thought I would stop by. You have a wonderful loving blog and I am sorry you were ill on Thanksgiving but it sounds like it all went well anyway. Your little granddaughter is precious. I am glad I stopped by. Blessings, Lady Jane

Hope you are feeling better. We didn't get to go to our families either but that was because of icy roads and lots of snow! We still had fun, though!

Oh Ginny... am so sorry to hear about your thanksgiving. if it is any consolation to you... i also had a thanksgiving that wasn't.

I went to see the doctor day before TD and had my butt taken care of. The pain pill made me dizzy and nauseous so I wasn't able to eat at all and just stayed in bed while the rest of my family enjoyed the meal.

That looks like a great dinner indeed. We went out but of course that means no left-overs. Sometimes the left-overs are the best part!

So sorry to learn that you two have been sick. Hopefully there is marked improvement by now. You've had the best medicine - That is prayer - so I'm expecting to hear better reports soon. What wonderful gestures of love were shown by your family bringing those beautiful plates of food to your home. It reminded me of a saying you probably heard by now - "You can give without loving - but you cannot love without giving!" You and Phil are obviously loved.
