The Day I Ran Away And Joined The Circus

I have always loved The Cirque Du Soleil. It means Circus Of the Sun. Though I have watched them on T.V. many times, I have never been to a show. A few years ago, they came to a nearby city to perform in a large stadium. And several days before their big show, they sent some of their performers out in the area to do some magic and give out free passes. This raises awareness and helps sell more tickets. It was lunchtime downtown, and perhaps the coldest and windiest day of the winter. I didn't care. There wasn't a huge turnout because of the weather, and this made it better for me to get even closer and get a good look. Every once in a while, they would pick someone from the crowd and do a trick with them, and I was chosen! Fortunately Phil had my little camera and got a few pretty good pictures. It was a day filled with wonder that I will never forget. God is the ultimate expert on wonders and miracles, he will come when we ask and listen when we pray, and no charge for tickets.

God moves in a mysterious way his wonders to perform;
He plants his footsteps in the sea and rides upon the storm. William Cowper

"He rescues and he saves; he performs signs and wonders in the heavens and on the earth. He has rescued Daniel from the power of the lions." Daniel 6:27

Ginny, this is so cool. Almost better than seeing an actual show. It's so personal. Like your own private event. Weather be darned. You went and had a blast. God planned it that way for you, I'm sure.

Phil took wonderful photos, Ginny!I liked your post subject line too..that made me smile! You have such a good imagination.

I've been fortunate enough to see a few Cirque Du Soleil performances in person when they performed in NY. One occasion was a birthday gift form my husband. Each show was very unique and fun!

Ginny, I thought you were going to say you and your sister Sandra had run off to the circus, LOL!

It looks like you had a great time, who cares about the weather when you can do fun things like that.

Even I thought you had actually run away:))) Love your header and the photos that Phil took. Must have been fun!

A star is born. :) I like your subject line. However, I feel like I live in a circus a lot of times. :) Good story.

I too love circus... And the header is mind blowing!! Looks like you had a jolly good time and yes the weather indeed looks chilly!
Have a nice day:-)

Like others already said, I also wondered if you and Sandra had run off together ;) Well I'm glad it seems not to have been a vanishing act they chose you for! (Me, I hate that kind of thing... being picked out of a crowd without having volonteerd...)

I wouldn't put it past you--running away and joining the circus!!

I love Cirque and have been three performances when they've been in Chicago--each in a huge yellow tent. They are amazing!! Now I can say I know one of the performers personally!!

Best,
Bonnie

Ran away to the circus, did you? I see you didn't stay long. Hahah. I perceive that you are just a lively person who enjoys lots of different things in this world which God has made. Then you always hold onto your anchor, which is the Word of God.

Ditto on what Fred Alton said!!! Great photos and great memories I'm sure!

Hi Ginny, I went to college with a man who was a professional circus performer with his own two man circus. They had a professional show in California focusing on the San Francisco Bay area . He juggled bowling balls and also he juggled large multiples of objects. I enjoyed seeing his act but I think he is no longer in entertainment. Have a great day!

I saw them in Las Vegas when I was at a meeting. They are magical performers. That large picture on the truck is a bit intimidating, isn't it?

How fun, Ginny! I always enjoyed the circus, but never been to that one. I always took my (then young) daughter to the big top (Ringling, Barnum and Bailey) when they came to town. Watching them always left us sitting there with our eyes and mouths wide open LOL

Ahh, great minds run together, you and Sandra. If there are different genres of circuses, would Sandra's be realism and yours impressionist?

It looks like you had a great time - and you weren't even expecting it - a gift. Those are my favorite kinds of days and surprises too.

A day at the circus is always fun. The way you got to participate and attend makes it even more exciting. have no idea what caused the police to stop that car. They had to have been driving reckless from drinking or drugs. You never can tell anymore.

Ginny, you do have some fun experiences!!Great pics! And I like the Cowper quote a lot!

that circus is a big hit here too, im not sure if it's the same one. it's good to see more of you in pictures.

I always wonder how they could walk on the stilts.

I hope they pay you well. LOL

Who knew you could have so much fun in the middle of winter? Very cool that you were picked to be the volunteer! Nice pictures too. This quote strikes me today, "God moves in mysterious ways ... " ... I just used that phrase in a phone conversation with my best friend last night. Life can definitely be just like a circus sometimes! What an adventure ...

WOW, now that was awesome! You have some great pictures.
I also liked your moon shots. I saw that last night too and I was driving home from my mothers WITHOUT my camera...That would figure! LOL
