Fields Of Gold

Many years have passed since those summer days
Among the fields of barley
See the children run as the sun goes down
Among the fields of gold
You'll remember me when the west wind moves
Upon the fields of barley
You can tell the sun in his jealous sky
When we walked in the fields of gold

From "Fields Of Gold" by Gordon Sumner

Last summer all the fields around here were decorated in gold. It reminded me of one of my favorite songs by Sting, "Fields Of Gold". I'm not positive, but I think this is wild mustard, or field mustard. It's nice to walk in fields of gold, it makes me warm just thinking about it.

He told them another parable: “The kingdom of heaven is like a mustard seed, which a man took and planted in his field. Though it is the smallest of all seeds, yet when it grows, it is the largest of garden plants and becomes a tree, so that the birds come and perch in its branches.”
Matthew 13:31,32

Lovely yellow! I think the Mustard plants we saw growing in Israel were even larger than those in your photos! How are you liking your computer?

Beautiful field of gold.

Eva Cassidy also sings that song. She was 33 when she died in 1996 I think. She has an amazing voice.

Is there any use for the wild mustard. I love fields and fields of wild flowers.

I think fields of mustard are gorgeous; it grew in our apple orchard and grows in Bible lands today and Jesus spoke of the tiny powerful mustard seed, as you wrote here.

That's one of my favorite songs too! We had fields around here that look like that in the summer. I have no idea what it is but it's warm and lovely.

Hope you have a golden day.

Re your question: You don't eat the parmesan rind. It's only there for flavoring. The recipe says remove it. That being said, parmesan rind is edible (there's always a bit of the cheese clinging to it) but not so very tasty.
It does soften a bit.

Best,
Bonnie

Love that song, too. It's so beautiful. As are your fields of mustard. But what I can't wait to see are all the fresh yellow dandelions this spring! There are a bunch right there in the photo with seeds ready for sowing :)

You startled me at first glance...then I read that these pics were old. I have always LOVED snow and we've had very little this year but our warmer than normal winter is making me look forward with joyful anticipation to Spring. Joy to your day Ginny!

Love the "Field's of Gold" in song and poetic lit. However, those yellow blooms clog my sinuses quicker than nearly anything I can think of. ☺
