In The Hood

A few days ago, we spotted a group of Hooded Mergansers. I was so excited, because I have never seen any before! Too bad that we had to idle on the side of a busy highway to snap them, with cars racing by. This is why the pictures are not the best, plus they were a decent distance away. We had to leave way before I was ready.

This one is the female and the rest are males.

An optimist is someone who figures that if it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck, it's the bluebird of happiness. ~Robert Braul

You captured them really well and I learned about a duck I never heard of before. Thanks for stopping and taking the pictures.

Ginny - how in the world did you even know what they were? Hooded Mergansers? They were pretty - I think the photos were good. Love the quote.

You should make a book out of all your interesting photos! Gary and I often pull off the road to get a good shot. But we miss a lot too... I have a feeling you don't miss many ;-)

I don't think we have those here. It reminds me a little bit of the Goldeneyes that we do have here, though.
