The Moon Hare

What do the moon and rabbits have in common? Well, in far Eastern culture, the darker markings on the moon represent a rabbit holding a hammer or pestle. It has been a myth in China, Japan, and Korea for many years.

Can you see it? Not me. But I have seen a totally black bunny hanging out in the neighborhood! Here he is. Fortunately, he did not have a hammer.

Bunnies are cuddly

 The large and the small

But I like chocolate ones the best of them all

Interesting!The bunny is so cute!

I can't see it even with it outlined. What are they smoking over there? Must be some potent stuff to turn a man in the moon into a bunny!

That bunny is definitely not of the wild variety, Ginny. Perhaps someone should try to find out who s/he belongs to before bad weather sets in. Call your local humane society for guidance on what to do. Poor bunny!! ~Andrea xoxo

Not sure I would notice the rabbits without the outlines there.

My daughter’s father (my ex-husband) is part Japanese and he taught me to see the rabbit in the moon. I grew up noticing a man in the moon.

I had not heard about a rabbit on the moon. I'm not sure I could see it without the outlines.

I had no idea about the moon and the bunny/rabbit. Interesting.
And your bunny visiting the neighborhood is so cute.

No I don’t see it, but then that's just how I am. I'll take a real life bunny instead.

That neighborhood one is VERY handsome!! Up here, there is supposedly a virus that is killing a lot of wild rabbits and domestic as well...I was wondering why I didn't see too many this year....:)jp
