Gracie Lou walks with a hobble, so she needs a wheelchair. Gracie Lou is a turkey who lives at Sasha Farm Animal Sanctuary. Money for the wheelchair, which costs at least $500.00, was solicited on Facebook. They got $600.00 pretty quickly. The wheelchair needs to be specially made, and it took at least 21 days to make it.
Dear Lord, I've been asked, nay
commanded, to thank Thee for the Christmas turkey
before us... a turkey which was no doubt a lively, intelligent bird... a social
being... capable of actual affection... nuzzling its young with almost
human-like compassion. Anyway, it's dead and we're gonna eat it. Please give
our respects to its family.

So kind of those people to get the money and built the wheelchair for Gracie Lou. Gracie Lou is so grateful to be able to walk now.
Is this life stupid? Millions of turkeys are slaughtered for the holidays, but for Gracie Lou they were able to raise money for a wheelchair ... Maybe I'm stupid ...
Well isn't Gracie Lou a lucky turkey.
What a lucky turkey to get so much love and care!
Gracie Lou is adorable :-)
Like a Presicential Pardon, Gracie Lou goes on to live another day. Yay. Gracie.
Oh my word! Oh my word! I can't make a comment that's printable here.
Compassion in any form is a beautiful thing. ~Andrea xoxo
Gracie Lou certainly is a lucky turkey! I hope she lives a long happy life! Your prayer at the end was funny!
This definitely qualifies as a "feel good" story.
Oh I so hope you enjoy viewing "A Shoe Addicts Christmas" on Hallmark Ch. !!!!!! You commented that you were taping it. -smile-
We think it is adorable. Jean Smart (as "Charlie") just makes it grrrrrrreat. It was made in 2018, for Hallmark Ch.
Oh my, a "lift" for a turkey!
If someone wants to save a life and then make that life more comfortable, why not? And if others want to contribute to that effort, I see nothing wrong in that. Human beings have the capacity to feel empathy for the strangest critters. I have beetles here I'm very fond of and if I find one in the house or dog run, I put them back outside, in what I hope is a safe place for them.
That is so sweet!
Wonderful they did this. I also looked at your full moon...beautiful. Did you know the different Native American tribes have different names for seasonal full moons?
Just found this quote, “He who is cruel to animals becomes hard also in his dealings with men. We can judge the heart of a man by his treatment of animals.” ― Emmanuel Kant
To all those who treat animals and birds with compassion, blessings on all of you :)
Oh, my, that is one expensive wheelchair!
People are so kind hearted...itvrenews faith in mankind.
I guess I just don't get it when so many children need help and he looked like a good size turkey. lol
What a crazy world this is.
WoW! That is impressive .
Well isn’t that the silliest thing ever? Happy thanksgiving Gracie Lou
I am speechless. Doesn't happen very often, so enjoy it. xoxo
