Driving home a couple nights ago, we saw thick black smoke raising up in the sky. So we followed it. Right to the local shopping center! A store there was on fire!
Most of it was over by the time we got there. See the stream of water from the big hose?
It was getting dark fast. And what interested me most was that their big ladders were all lit up!
Eerily enough, the fre was right beside The Halloween Store!
One more look back as we drive away.

It's tragic to see this happen. I think of livelihoods lost.
So sad to see one of the store got burned down. Nice to see the lighted up ladder to enable the firefighters to see where they are stepping.
How sad. I hope the fire wasn't too terribly bad and that the store will be able to reopen eventually. Fire can be a scary thing.
OH no. So scary when you see a fire. Hope all are safe. You did capture some great photos. Happy Saturday Ginny.
Fires scare me. So sad. Glad everyone was safe tho.
Ooooo, that is strange that it started right next to the Halloween store. I've never seen the ladders lit up like that before. That's such a smart thing to do. So glad that it was put out, and I hope it didn't cause damage to the store. We get fires often up here in the mountains, and they really scare me. Our firefighters are great, working day and night to put them out. Haven't heard of any big ones yet this year, thankfully.
Have a peaceful weekend, Ginny.

Ginny, the caracara is a Mexican eagle. In fact I believe it's their national bird.
Wow! Glad it wasn't worse and hopefully they can get the store re-opened soon.
Great capture of the fire. I hope there wasn't too much damage to it and other stores around it.

Excellent that their ladders are so lit up...
Sorry about the fire though.... Glad it wasn't a house, but someone's livlihood was in that store. -sigh-
Makes a stunning blog look though...

Hope all was fine in the end. A sad discovery
I hate when things like that happen. We had a lumber plant burn a couple of towns away this week and it has been burning/smoldering for 5 days now. So sad. Amazing the lights on those ladders! xo Diana
Very dramatic photos Ginny, and so sad for those people who saw their dream go up in smoke. I hope no one was hurt, both in the buildings and among the firefighters. Reminds me yet again how thankful we are to those who are trained to put these fires out, and the risks they have to take to do that. The local news should be after your photos.
p.s. your head shot is wonderful!
Fire does scare me...hate seeing something on fire. Unless it is something being burned on purpose.
I hope there wasn't too much damage. Greatvphotos.
SO sad about the store. Interesting about the ladders being lit up. I never heard of that before but it makes sense!
The last picture is so great. And I didn't know the laddder lights up at night, that must be so helpful. You had quite an adventure.
awsome pics WOW
How sad. Hope no one was injured. Last year there was a fire at a shopping center in my town. It took 5-6 months before the supermarket was able to re-open. A couple of the other stores had to move elsewhere, I think.
Oh how sad! Hope & Pray no one was injured. Our grand girl Addy, one of her closest friends lost her daughter this week in a accident. He was hit while riding his motorcycle. So terribly sad. Thank you for visiting me. Enjoy this new week.
Oh I wrote my comment wrong. Oh shoot! Addy's friend Julieanne lost her dad in a motorocycle accident. So sad, I always think of my mom being so young when she lost her own dad and brother so tragically.
Yikes! You really found some excitement! I like that you saw the smoke and followed it, haaahaha xoxo
