This month's full moon is a Super Moon! Meaning it looks a whole lot bigger. It is also a Blue Moon! August's full moon is called the sturgeon moon, because that was when they were most readily caught. I caught the moon just as it was going behind clouds.
And if you were hoping for an actual Blue Moon, I've got one for you!

Once in a Blue Moon. I've heard this idiom many times...meaning that something very rarely happens. I think I once read where a blue moon refers to a rare occurrence of two full moons that happens in a single month. Not sure

Rick and I went out and looked at the moon tonight. It looked yellow - you sure do know a lot about the moons. My photo didn't turn out that good at all.
When I was going to work Sunday morning I noticed how much biggger the moon looked. These photos are awesome.
I saw on TV it is a blue moon, and our back yard has been lit up like daylight each morning when we get up, I had to go out with Beau at 2:30 2 nights ago and I did not need a flash light, it was bright as day and HUGE moon hanging over us. this morning at 3:15, it was so bright the blinds were outlined like the floodlight was on our side. yesterday, bob said did you turn the flood light on and forget it? nope, it was God's light

Those are neat photos, Ginny. I've always wondered why it's called the blue moon, when in fact, it isn't that blue. But I love the picture your shared of the blue moon. That quote is pretty cool too.

I love the old song "Blue Moon" ... and now I'm humming it. Your pictures border on the spiritual! What a phenomenon! I noticed last night that the moon was super big and bright. Dagny had told me there would be a full moon but I didn't know it was a super moon! Autumn is on the way! xoxo

I so love these, Ginny. I don't have a good place to view the moon and capture it. And even if I did, going outside that late would arouse Copper and that is a whole other kettle of fish.
