I may be old, but I'm not too old to howl at the moom! And that's exactly what I was doing tonight, literally. Tonight was the full wolf moon, and I was determined to get some good shots. My buddy REMINGTON had reminded me earlier today. Once it started rising, it moved fast, and we spent the time driving, turning, swerving, and going round in circles to parking lots and roadsides. This was all in an attempt to free the moon from power lines, trees, mountains, and roof tops. Each time something would block it, I would howl. Most of the moon names come from Native Americans. And this name seems to be because in the cruel and snowy month of January, the wolves would circle the encampments, howling with hunger. I've done that often, myself! There will come a time when we won't need to fear wolves or anything else, God tells us this.
"Before they call out, I'll answer. Before they've finished speaking, I'll have heard. Wolf and lamb will graze the same meadow, lion and ox eat straw from the same trough, but snakes-they'll get a diet of dirt! Neither animal nor human will hurt or kill anywhere on my Holy Mountain", says God. The Message: Isaiah 65

Aowwwooooo....
There - I howled with you!
;o)
owwwwoo.... so tonight is your night Ginny?? tell us about it tomorrow.. dont open the door for "werewolf" in masquerade.. hahaha...
I have not heard about wolves and moon but I always see a human face in the moon...strange huh. Thank God for all His goodness and faithfulness and how He make the world and His creation interesting for each one of us :)
You show that there are trees in the moon, according to the Chinese legend, there is a tree in the moon.
Really great shots you captured Ginny! I would love to see a video of you howling!
Those are great pictures, Ginny! I can just picture you and your husband riding around looking for the perfect shots. :)
Very funny. :) Those are nice shots..
That's what I need a better camera for. Mine just won't bring in the moon no matter how big it is. It's so beautiful.
You're lucky Phil doesn't mind driving and swerving just so the wires/rooftops do not block your view!;) You got some great shots! Interesting to read about the story and I liked the verse too!
P.S. I realized I've been smiling from the time I read your post to typing the comment here. You're too funny!!!
You almost always bring howls of laughter to me when I check in with you. I am now picturing Phil careening around the valley with you hanging out the passenger window, your camera snapping photo after photo and passersby left in your dust scratching their heads!
Whatever it takes, those are amazing moon shots!
Best,
Bonnie
You really have to do some searching to find spots without man-made interference in God's great nature scenes. I'd call what I do "screaming" maybe. Or "Sunday cussin'" ☺
I'm so glad to see your full wolf moon. We could tell at work in the nursing home that it was a full moon. Some people are very affected by it and certain unwelcome behaviors are increased - like restlessness, anxiety, aggression - when at other times these are placid individuals. Interesting to say the least!
We have coyotes howling at nights in the valley not far from us and we can hear them too!
Great verse of future peace!!
Wondering what kind of a telescope you've got to be able to get photos of the trees growing on the moon... (hehe)
Great Photos!
I long for the day described in Isaiah 65. Even so come Lord Jesus!

Hi Ginny, What great shots - your efforts were rewarded! Have a super day today!
I think you and Phil did a wonderful job of avoiding power lines and tree branches to get these beautiful pictures of the full moon.
Ginny, these are fantastic photos. Your skill with a camera is really amazing. I hope you have a great day. Blessings...Mary
Fabulous moon photos. Love that 'lace edging' of trees silhouetted at the bottom.
these are wonderful, i am jealous, i just can't get a decent shot of the moon. maybe because i do it at 4 am and not at night. i am asleep by the time it comes up at night. i can't wait for you and me to get to the spot that we don't have to fear anything, wovles or CL things in our minds. i have been gone all morning shopping for weekly supplies and when i got home had a list of 5 things to do before i am allowed to blog. 4 of them are done, but i wanted you to know i am here but running late.
Awesome is an overworked word but I have to use it again. Awesome photos Ginny. The verse with it is terrific too.
So glad you went and howled at the moon. We reaped the benefits of that.
hahaha. loved this...you're never tooo old to howl at the moon. And yes my story will be published in a month or so and in the spring World Vision and Tyndale College with host an event to display the winners. Have a great day Ginny. you always make me smile.
I had to laugh outloud at the thoughts of you HOWLING at the moon... Bet Phil got entertained!!!!! ha ha ha .. Too bad you didn't have a video of it.....
Great pictures. We were cloudy last night --and snow is coming tonight.... Bah!!!!!
Hugs,
Betsy
I want to see and hear = a video of your howling too. Great pictures again.

Great shots, my friend! Howling right along with you! We can do it again on Feb. 18th! Your howling friend, Remington
so good ... the images and words ... and you pair them with scripture so well
OH my, my, my! I took photos of the moon last night too, the only ones that have ever come out half way decent, but...
yours are GORGEOUS!!!
Great shots of the moon. I've never been able to get that close and those those dreaded power lines are so annoying to boot. I can just see you howling away, that cracked me up
I think you did a great job on the moon even if you missed its fullness. I am never good at getting the moon.
Ginny,
I think the moon is lovely and what a visual I have of you howling at the moon...and actually wondering what that sounded like? I'm also jealous because truth be told, I'm afraid of my own voice in any form but talking...isn't that odd?
I also wanted to thank you for your continual warm thoughts and prayers you've provided this week. It's been a tough one but I feel I've had tremendous support from friends like you and just appreciate it greatly!
(((hugs)))
I am SO looking forward to the day when that Snake of snakes gets his diet of dirt and fire.....
Great pictures... somehow I missed the full moon this month. We had too many clouds.
You always take such fabulous photos of the moon, Ginny. Tyansk for all your effort to capture these shots.
I may not howl when hungry but my stomach does! :)
Amazing! and absolutely beautiful capture, Ginny. Unfortunately we had cloud cover, then rain and fog, and finally tonight, the wolf moon is waning, but a spectacular sunset on our way home.
Haaaahahaha... I can remember my pet dog howling at the moon....thanks Ginny for the beauty you shared today. I have to upload my volcano adventure from my friends camera yet. My camera bogged down two weeks ago and I still have to wait for a replacement. I may share it by Sunday or Monday.Have a happy weekend.
I'm envious. . . of the images you captured, not so much the howling! Just enjoyed picturing you driving around howling!
I look forward to that day! These are beautiful and I love the color with the bit of trees!
What a riot! I know just what you mean about driving around too..I took a few as it was clear last night- but I'm still having trouble with it?
I'm so frustrated with my blogger right now, I feel like howling!! I don't know what I did, except switch my background then when I put my header picture in - they look as if I took them with my cell phone now! (sigh)
Your chase to catch the moon was well worth it Ginny, great photos. I did get a laugh at the thought of you howling at the moon.
You did remind me of hearing the wolves sing (howl) to each other on the Arctic tundra, it was really quite haunting. It's a little sad that this beautiful animal is so misunderstood.
I'm catching up, my internet connection kept going on and off last night.
How completely awesome, you have out "shined" yourself! Gorgeous!!!!
It was fantastic. I even managed to get a few shots of the full moon while it was not quite dark yet and they came out ok considering my camera is not equipped for those type of pictures.
I love staring at the full moon. I remember looking at it with my grandpa's binoculars when I was little and in my imagination, I actually saw the man in the moon in there carrying his bundles of wood...LOL...kids!
