This week we went to visit friends, and their daughter Rhianna just couldn't wait to show us her favorite Christmas present. A new puppy, isn't he cute? She had been wanting this particular puppy for over a year! His name is Biscuit, and he is the most obedient dog I have ever seen! Upon command, he will sit, lay down, speak, beg, shake hands, and more. How many of you have guessed the secret to his amazing obedience yet? Well, he has no choice, he is programmed to obey. Because he is really a robot. He will pant, bark, and whimper as long as there is someone in the room. Wouldn't it be great if we were all programmed like that to obey God so we would never mess up? But something called free will keeps us from that. If we didn't have free will, we would be robots just like Biscuit. And God wants us to obey him because we want to, not because we have to. You can't force someone to love you. But please don't tell biscuit.
"I wait for your salvation, O Lord, and I follow your commands. I obey your statutes, for I love them greatly. I obey your precepts and your statutes, for all my ways are known to you."

I did guess from start that it must be a toy... Does he need to be walked at all? Some people like to keep a dog because it gets them out in any kind of weather. I have to say I'm quite happy just keeping a camera which allows me to stay in on a bad-weather-day. (There is another snowstorm going on outside my windows as I write.)

I want one of these. and it does not wet the carpet or throwup on the carpet. total obedience and NO baths. good dog, good post, love it. you are so right, if we could just be programed for obedience to God it would be wonderful, we would never turn away or forget what He wants us to do and do the opposite.
I'm with Ruth on this one - such a cutie puppy but no mess to clean up and no food bill, lol! We're not allowed animals in our apartment building. Love visiting our kids' dogs and cats though! Very good spiritual application - you're really great at that. Thanks!

Poor ol Biscuit! He'll never know the joy of freedom. I've seen those robots and some are sooooo life-like. A friend has a robot kitty-kat that's incredible - but there's nothing that takes the place of real. I guess I'm funny tho - I'd rather have a robot dog if it's gonna be inside the house.

Not being a true dog-lover, I'd like this kind of cute and non-demanding species. However, I think that a real dog is more fun to watch.

Oh my goodness, Ginny ...this dog looked so real! My son has a real dog named Biscuit that looks very much like this one (a photo is on my blog sidebar), but much larger. The real life Biscuit is not so well behaved :)
A good point..it should come from the heart! I hear that so often and not always positive..but He certainly gives us a choice! Nobody can ever say he doesn't show mercy!

Biscuit is a good dog, I wonder if he could come over and teach Duke a few things. Unfortunately Duke has that free will and he knows how to use it sometimes...lol
