So Late So Soon

How did it get so late so soon?
It's night before it's afternoon.
December is here before it's June.
My goodness how the time has flewn!
How did it get so late so soon?
Theodor Geisel (Dr. Seuss)

Fall really snuck up on me, it came several weeks before I thought it would! So it is with real sadness that I bid a fond farewell to summer. I will miss it's stunning and abundant light, it's beautiful flowers, and seeing the fireflies in the sultry twilight.  Most of all I will miss the light, as the title of my blog testifies. But I am glad that I am still here to enjoy the nip in the air and the brilliant leaves. And let's not forget the hay, they can do wonderful things with it now, don't you think?

"O my soul, bless God!...Beautifully, gloriously robed, dressed up in sunshine and all heaven stretched out for your tent. You set earth on a firm foundation so that nothing can shake it, ever. You make grass grow for the livestock, hay for the animals that plow the ground."
Psalm 104:1

I love the Dr. Seuss quote.

It's beginning to look like fall over your way. I miss the longer days too but the cooler evenings are nice.

Today may be the first day of fall but we are going to be sunny with the temps near ninety. Summer is trying to hang on over here.

Thank you, Prayer Lady! You and Dr. Seuss started my day with a lift of spirits, a smile and a reminder of God's care with your comment on my blog and your post.

Love Dr. Seuss!

Fun hay shots - when we were driving back from WV we saw some folks sitting in lawn chairs in front of their newly decorated round bales, admiring their handiwork.

I've been lucky to extend my summer - this part's even better than the actual summer. But I'm sure that fall will arrive with a thud when I land at home. Love the hay-bale spider.

How very cute! That's going all Halloween in a big way!

Missing the light myself, I hate seeing evening come so soon. Sigh...

Have a lovely weekend!

your blog looks like fall festival time for sure, i like the header up close and personal. the poem fits what bob and i were discussing this past week, that it is only Sept and everyone is decorating for Halloween, including orange lights in a tree down the street. i want to scream STOP wait until the holiday is here, the stores are full of Halloween and Christmas things mixed in with bathing suits and suntan lotion here in Florida.

One man's summer is another man's fall. I love fall so I have been anticipating it! I am so excited.

And what a GREAT idea to do to the hay for this time of year!

Have a good weekend.

It doesn't get any better than Dr. Seuss, does it? Fall hasn't quite arrived here in Florida, but I am noticing some leaves falling and the days getting shorter. Time does cause the seasons to creep up on me,though. Loved the photos!!!!!

That is some hay bale! I like the 'artwork.'

Fall did seem to arrive rather quickly this year. It's sad to see summer leave but I do love the smells and the sights of fall.
Love the poem, I've heard it before and always thought it was cute

Ginny, it's so fascinating to see fall decoration photos. The words are lovely!

About your question on my blog, yes that turmeric is the same plant where the spice comes from.
