Sparkles & Sweets

"People are like stained glass windows. They sparkle and shine when the sun is out, but when the darkness sets in their true beauty is revealed only if there is light from within."
Elisabeth Kubler-Ross

Tonight, a nearby city had their yearly Sparkles & Sweets evening. This is where all the downtown stores stay open till nine, and decorate their windows, show off their Christmas shopping gifts, and offer free sweets and champagne. They have strolling singers, mimes, magicians, fire performers, and horse and carriage rides! I will be showing you some more of this in the next few days.

"Men and women who have lived wisely and well will shine brilliantly, like the cloudless, star-strewn night skies. And those who put others on the right path to life will glow like stars forever."
Daniel 12:3

P.S. Some of you have been commenting to me, but are not telling me if you want to be entered in my purse giveaway. Please let me know yes or no.

That sounds like a fun event. I like it when cities do promotions to bring folks to the downtown areas. That carriage is pretty, I would love to take a ride around the town.

Everything looks so beautiful, the shop windows, particularly. I also like the platter on your header photo. The food looks delicious! (I have a sweet tooth!)

About the giveaway, it's a no from me. I think I live too far away! That's the only reason.

What a "sweet" way to welcome the Christmas season!

Some of the small towns do something like this, to open the shopping season, although I have never seen a carriage ride!

Looks and sounds like a great photo opportunity. A bit early for Christmas yet though in my opinion... Although some shops here too started their Christmas displays back in mid October.

Well Ginny, I can tell you one thing that sparkles and shines is your little grand daughter. Her costume is quite lovely and those fall pictures of her through the years are just adorable...what a sweetie...
