The Gifts

Today, Ella spent the afternoon with us. It is such a joy to have her here, and I can hardly believe she is already five! She spent part of the day putting up these window clings, it was the manger scene. When she got to the wise men, I asked her if she knew what gifts they brought Baby Jesus, and she did! Here is what she said. "Frankenstein, gold, and myrrh!" So now, Frankenstein and Christmas will be ever connected in my mind. What an unexpected and beautiful gift, an afternoon of laughter.

“Instructed by the king, they set off. Then the star appeared again, the same star they had seen in the eastern skies. It led them on until it hovered over the place of the child. They could hardly contain themselves: They were in the right place! They had arrived at the right time!
They entered the house and saw the child in the arms of Mary, his mother. Overcome, they kneeled and worshiped him. Then they opened their luggage and presented gifts: gold, frankincense, myrrh.”
Matthew 2

"Frankenstein, gold, and myrrh!" ??? She is so funny...
Those figurs are very nice, indeed.
I like those!

That building you saw is a fountain that belongs to an ancient palace-house of local aristocracy.(It is about 1 mile from my parent’s house), in the village. I live in a small city, Mangualde, 6 miles from there.

Thank you for visiting.

Oh, I got a laugh out of this too. Just before I came here, I was writing a comment on Sandra's blog about how our Christmas traditions are such an odd mix when one starts picking apart their origins. Now they just became even odder...

The 'Frankenstein' comment was wonderful. Young people Ella's age can bring a smile at any moment. Ella did a wonderful job putting up the display.

Ginny: To answer your question, the Madonna has been traveling around to various locations for the past ten years. I'm not sure how!!

Best,
Bonnie

What a beautiful time you and Phil have when Ella comes around! Six years only - and amazing you with her knowledge. That's the kind of grand-daughter we have who is also now six years old. She's very special and brings us old folks so much joy!!!

This reminds me of a Christmas several years ago when the grandkiddos acted out the birth of Christ. The wise-men that day brought gold, frankincense and 'fudge'! Heeehehehe!!!

Beautiful post sweetie!

God bless ya and have a magnificent day!

Pop over for my giveaway if ya get a chance. I'll brew up some fresh apple cider and put the fudge tray out for ya! :o)
