All Dressed Up And Nowhere To Go

"All the trees of the field will recognize that I, God, made the great tree small and the small tree great, made the green tree turn dry and the dry tree sprout green branches. I, God, said it—and I did it.'"
Ezekiel 17

I bet you think you're seeing things, but no need to look again, you've got it right. A couple weeks ago, we went to a large park with a famous mansion and acres of formal gardens. They are famous for the variety and size of their trees. And I guess they wanted to dress them up just a bit for the visitors. Actually, I think this is probably the silliest thing I have ever seen! God dressed his trees perfectly in leaves and bark, for all kinds of weather. and I somehow don't see how these little cotton frocks can improve upon that. In leaving, I saw the sign at the bottom. Aha, it was the college students who did this! I'm not even sure what a draping class is, do they learn to drape clothes, or to make drapes? I'm very confused. But here's one thing I know...how the children of God are dressed.

“I will sing for joy in God, explode in praise from deep in my soul! He dressed me up in a suit of salvation, he outfitted me in a robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom who puts on a tuxedo and a bride a jeweled tiara.”
Isaiah 61

Now I think I've seen just about everything. I'm glad you got pictures -- otherwise I wouldn't have believed it.

Hi There Ginny, I'm trying to catch up after being gone for a week. It's not easy --but we did have a fabulous week. Missed seeing you on Facebook. We posted everyday there I think....

Love seeing the 'dressed up' trees.... Like George said, there's always a first for everything!!!! ha

Hope you are feeling well now.
Hugs,
Betsy

Well that's definitely unusual, never seen anything like it before. If this is a design class at least the teacher is letting the kids have fun with it. Better than spending all their time in a classroom.

Well isn't that different. You do find the most interesting things. Maybe I'm weird but I kind of like some of them. Not that I would dress my trees up every day but it would be kind of fun if you were having a party or something.

Not something I'd have thought possible. Glad you shared these pictures with us!

so happy to see you write it is the silliest thing you ever saw, because as i scrolled through the pics, i was thinking the same thing and also WHY would anyone do this. i am sure those majestic trees were a little embarrased to be "draped". at least these look like fashions i could wear since i have the shape of a tree trunk myself. ask them to send me a couple.

Never seen anything like this before Ginny, very interesting and funny too!!
Where do you get such fabulous content for your blog daily!!!
Have a lovely week ahead:)

Oh wow! I have never seen anything like this. It is so funny! I guess it is a fashion design class because draping does have to do with making clothes. This is a hoot!

As a temporary project/exhibition I find it good fun! ;) Makes me think of the Ents in the Lord of the Rings story... Also reminds me of some knitting projects I've seen, decorated lamp posts and park benches and whatnot.

It is silly but what fun. How folks dream this stuff up is beyond me:-). Have a great day, Ginny. Blessings...Mary

I think I prefer Gods designs better. I also wonder what a draping class is. We may never know...lol

Just wanted to tell you that I enjoy coming to your blog and seeing what new picture you have on your header...happy Tuesday!

I'm with you...leave the trees naked. They are too beautiful to wear those silly aprons and skirts. Although the apron-thing did make me laugh. And humor is an important part of life, too. As long as they didn't harm the trees and the clothes will come off, then college kids...well! What can I say?

I'm not a big fan of yarn-bombing either. waste of good knitting says me.

That's really funny. I love all the fun people like to have to stir beauty and joy in us! Crazy life so I'm not in the blogger world much. Hope you are well!

The only tree skirt I've ever seen before now is around a christmas tree. These are quite silly! Fun to see different stuff like this. :)

I can not imagine why someone would dress up a tree.

Greetings,
Filip

Those trees are brilliant...indeed! I had never seen such exhibition! Lovely!

Yes , dear...they are firing the teachers. Portuguese gov is ending with the adult teaching! Many teachers will be discharged…and those who need instruction will remain in the darkness of ignorance!
Shame on them....
I'm a teacher but it won't affect me... Because I have 28 years teaching, I have "my place " in school...
Other teachers will be fired, indeed! That is so sad!

thank you for your concern.
God Bless you!

I have never seen anything like this in all my many years. That sounds like what some of the college kids would do. At least, it is an eye catcher. Ginny, I want you to know I truly appreciate your loyalty in visiting my blog. It mans a lot to me. I have been struggling to learn the new version, and finally managed a few. It takes me much longer and then try to correct mistakes.

Looks like Maymont Park and VCU is where I was graduated.
It amazes me what passes for "art" these days...???

I have heard of this...it is sponsored by Cotton Inc. and the sophomore design class makes these tree skirts.
kinda funny isn't it?
Thanks for sharing Ginny...

whose idea was it. I hope it doesn't rain. Now it rains everyday, and on Thursday, we had our cross country run.

I don't know whose idea it was to have it now. It RAINS everyday. Poor kids, poor parents and poor teachers.
