Mummy Braces

This dental work was found on a 4,000 year old mummy. Wow, the intricate tooth work amazes me. Looks like some kind of braces. Now I am wondering if they had some kind of substitute for novacaine.

Yes, I am also wondering the same thing. If not, dental procedure will be unbearable.

Oh my, it hurts just to look at that. I can't imagine going through a procedure like that

If not, that is the type of procedure that would cause a person to never see a dentist again.

Ouch! Waiting to have another "big job" done myself ;-) (old crown broke, waiting to have a new one fitted...)

The last picture cracked me up.
The dentist can make us talk that way.
Interesting dental work... wonder if it is true?

That's really interesting! I would think it would be hard to get your teeth clean with that on them and no modern toothbrushes.

Hurray for modern dentistry!

I cannot imagine how the pain must be during those days! We should be thankful that we were not born then... The last pic is really Cute!

Wow, that must have been unbearably painful--especially the drilling holes in those two front teeth. I would rather have crooked teeth.

Amazing early dentistry. As someone with bad teeth, I feel for the patient though.

Ugh I thought people just let their teeth fall out back then, with no dentists around! Guess I was wrong, haahaa! xoxo

That's fascinating to see and just about fits with Halloween :) When my old dentist retired and a new one took his place, the ever so relaxing fish tanks that I loved disappeared, and were replaced with floor-to-floor ceiling before and after teeth pictures. Many were absolutely ghastly! No exaggeration! I couldn't help it, I left the practice soon after. My new dentist's gruff nature and I just weren't a good fit, and the previously lovable grandfather of a dentist I missed terribly. Funny how these pictures brought back these memories, lol!

p.s. I laughed at that cute pug. Thank you!
