Come Away With Me

Aren't these strange looking flowers? Notice their long, fat stems. I guess they have been around here for awhile, but I just noticed them last fall. I was puzzled for quite a while as to what they could be. I finally found out they are cleomes, or spider flowers. And while most flowers have many meanings and symbols, these have only one, a very clear one. Come away with me! Between young sweethearts, a cleome asks the recipient to elope. Between long married couples, it asks if they would leave the world behind and get married all over again. Here is someone who asks us to come away with him, leave the world behind, and be promised the most beautiful stunning, and joyful world ever, a world beyond death. Come away with him.

"Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you'll recover your life. I'll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me-watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rythms of grace. I won't lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you'll learn to live freely and lightly." Matthew 11:28

I've never heard of these flowers, but they are very pretty. Your header is beautiful! I like the Scripture - from The Message, is it?

We have those in this part of the country. They have such an airy feel. The verse you chose is so inviting.

Oh, what an interesging flower, Ginny. It looks like a cross between an agapantha, a bleeding heart/fuschia, and a morning glory. Fascinating and really very very pretty.

They are really unusual and pretty flowers, Ginny! I don't think I've ever seen them before.

I never heard Matthew quoted in such common vernacular! It's a very inviting tone!

It sure is nice to see flowers instead of snow! I hadn't heard the meaning or symbol behind cleomes before, so I learned something. I guess I'll have to find some for Betsy.

Hi Ginny, Gee, I sure did like looking at those flowers. It is all snow and ice here with just the evergreens for contrast. Glad you posted flowers. I also love the spiritual message and Scripture. Have a really fine day!

I fell in love with those flowers on a trip to Nova Scotia. I've never seen them growing out here but I'm not sure why. I was told the same meaning about the flowers when I asked their name.

I've never seen these flowers before. I'll have to find out still more about them. Regarding the questions you've asked. Cream fraiche has a tang but is less sour than sour cream. It also has a slightly nutty flavor. About the potatoes, I'm clueless. I can suggest you not add them at the very beginning of the cooking time. I generally add mine 2 to 3 hours before the end of the cooking period. You could also cook them with skins on. Have a great day, Ginny. Blessings...Mary

Hi Ginny, I love what those flowers stand for.... AND--the best thing is seeing the flowers and that color, especially this time of year when all we see is WHITE.

We did get out today to get some groceries and run some errands. The main roads were good and the back roads were fair.. It was nice to get out though.

Have a wonderful weekend.
Hugs,
Betsy

Oh Ginny, this is such a pretty little flower. I don't think I have ever seen it before.

I was over at Sandra page and saw your comments regarding comments. Go back and look at your post, if you look at the very end you will see a tiny trashcan that let's you delete your own comment. It's the same on your page.

Gee..now this really spoke to me..I was just going to come and tell you I felt so encouraged with your words tonight..but I didn't quite expect this! "The unforced rythms of grace"- just beautiful..also how you put the love- both human and our Father's!! In answer to your question..mine wasn't quite as inspirational as yours..though scripture does indeed speak..I often think of it, that (the bitter and the sweet) but in a good way which often gets misunderstood? I think like as you've discribed here..and we do get burt out, even though we don't realize it..you know, like sludge or becoming stagnent in certain ways. Even if I'm miserable "come away"..as you said so perfectly and tied it together with the flower- thanks! I enjoyed this..its also like why I like macros..when you zoom in like your header its something else- very pretty!
