Paper weaving is a fun craft, and both of the girls like to do it. In small doses. After weaving for a bit, they tire of the repetition and want to go on to something else. So it can take us many days or even weeks to finish just one project. You see that Anne's birthday cake is not done yet, nor is the cow in my header. But after a rest, they are always ready to get back to it and give it another go. Sort of like life. See you on Tuesday!
My life is but a weaving between my Lord and me
I cannot choose the colors, He works steadily.
Oft times He weaves sorrow, and I, in foolish pride
forget He sees the upper, and I the under side.
Not til the loom is silent and the shuttles cease to fly,
shall God unroll the canvas and explain the reason why.
The dark threads are as needful in the Weaver's skillful hand
as the threads of gold and silver in the pattern He has planned.
He knows, He loves, He cares, nothing this truth can dim.
He gives His very best to those who leave the choice to Him.

OH how sweet, Ginny... I remember paper weaving--with some of my classes of kids in our church.. Since I didn't raise girls, we never did that at home--but it's a great little craft... Your little gals did GREAT.

What a cutie! We've always got to keep their little hands busy and their minds occupied! I remember paper weaving - we did Christmas stars - which I still haul out every Christmas! So much fun!
I remember doing those in my primary days but i didnt make a good job out of it.. i m never good in Art.. lol..

I've never seen projects quite like those (weaving into half-prepared pictures). What I can remember is we sometimes did a kind of little baskets to put in Christmas trees, by weaving strips of paper.

when the post opened i wondered what the header was. this is cool and new to me. there are so many new cool toys out there since i was looking at them. i might enjoy this for myself, of course i am like the girls, it would only last a short time. the only thing i can do for hours is what i am doing right now.
I don't remember ever doing this. But I did used to do latch hook rugs.

I still to this day do not like repetition in craft or for any project, I was like that as a child too. Its why I jump from one art project to another.

Part of the fun of having grandchildren is the excuse it gives us to still "play"! What a sweetheart she is.
What a perfect example of life.Only problem is that we don't have the choice to stop for a while and continue later.
She looks pretty darn happy with her progress so far! I feel much the same way...give me tons of variety.

That is a great activity for the kids. Yay for paper weaving. Ours werent quite so fancy when I was a kid. Crafts of any kind have come a long way today. I love the poem you chose as you always find the most appropriate verses to go with your posts. hugs, LJ
