Over Afton Mountain

We drove over Afton Mountain to Charlottesville today, to do some Christmas shopping. Oh MY, every single store was so crowded you could barely walk. Must be because of the shortages. I got almost nothing on my list, not even at Wegman's! Here is our trip.

And on the way home...we almost didn't make it back before dark.

“Hear them falling, falling, like a whisper of the dead,
Like memory's voices calling, paving the path we tread
With crimson hues and golden, like a mosaic olden.”

What a beautiful trip it was even if you didn't get much crossed off your list.

Well...that's too bad. At least you got to see some beautiful colours. That quote is so melancholy.

that last photo is so beautiful, I like it because of the cars and their tail lights competing with the setting sun... love the dappled sunlight on the bank sign...

Annnnnd, yours and mine, are a bit dark, today. -smile-

Sorry about the wasted trip.

I am so glad we only get for 'grands' and they love a check. -smile-

You definitely found a great deal of autumn beauty on your trip, even if you couldn't find what you wanted in the stores.

Oh dear! I have no desire to go out amongst crowds. If I can't buy it online this year, no one is getting it! I hope that's not the case. xoxo

At least you had beautiful scenery!! I am buying up a bunch of stockings and giving stocking stiffers to all the people on my gift list this year. Much easier and more fun for me I am thinking!

You may not have gotten the items on your list, but you sure had some gorgeous scenery along the way.
