The Lonely Autumn Cry Of Geese

Every evening the Canada Geese fly overhead with loud encouraging honks.

This is what they fly toward. And who wouln't want to?

And now that all my beard is white...
The little things remain most bright.
The lonely autumn cry of geese
Which slowly flew across our town,
The turning of the leaves to brown
As frost arrives and brings life peace.

Yep, it's their time to fly, isn't it. *honk-honk-honk* I always look up and say "Safe travels, my friends!" as they fly by. ~Andrea xoxoxo

How low they seem....

Yes, I'm actually thinking of doing some flying south, myself. :-) This North Country isn't looking so good, any more...

I have never seen flocks that large. What a beautiful sight they must have been. More lovely skies too.

Pretty. We used to see Canada geese when we lived in Colorado. Tons of them.

Autumn is my favourite season and I just love to hear the geese flying overhead.

the poem is a little sad to me, since the three of us here are in the autumn and flying into the sunset. your sunset is gorgeous. we rarely see geese here but once in a while 3 or 4 will fly over and boy are they loud

Beautiful pictures of both the geese and the sky.

The geese have changed their flight pattern and I seldom see or here any here at home! I miss them so much....there is just something about geese flying overhead in the fall.

You always get such lovely sunsets, and I can imagine the sound of the geese... :)

I have always loved the sound of the Canada Geese. Saw a huge flock this morning as I was about to walk into church . That sunset sky is amazing .

Yep, it's that time of year. Most of the birds are headed south. That's a beautiful sunset for them to fly into

I hate to see them go. I know it means winter is near.
Great photos!

We don't see or hear wild geese here. I used to love them when we were in upstate New York.

I also love the quote. For some reason I'm always moved by fallen leaves in autumn.

Oh, those geese are such special birds. Their honk is LOUD! I just saw a few of them fly above me at the creek. These sunset photos are so pretty with the pink and purple skies. I always enjoy your quotes at the end of your posts. Thank you for sharing them. : )

I love that poignant sound. A flock flew over my house at dusk a few days ago, squawking. Lovely. xoxo
