A Tale Of Two Shovels, Or, How To Predict When Spring Is Coming

Do you see the handle of our shovel sticking out of that mound of snow in the first picture? My husband stuck the shovel in there. It's his new way to predict when spring is coming. When the shovel falls over, spring is here! We think our method works even better than Puxatawney Phil on Groundhog Day! Little three year old Ella, however, does not want to wait for the shovel to fall. She's been stuck in the house with us all winter and has not been able to play outside. So she took matters (and a little shovel) into her own hands. Ever helpful, she's doing what she can to clear the yard of snow. This year, it's hard for everyone to wait for spring.

"As the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and do not return to it without watering the earth and making it bud and flourish, so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater...You will go out in joy and be led forth in peace; the mountains and hills will burst into song before you, and all the trees of the field will clap their hands." Isaiah 55

Isaiah is my favorite book of the Bible, when I pick up any of my Bibles, they fall open to the middle of Isaiah. this scripture today is SOOO appropriate for spring.
Love the story of the 2 shovels and I vote for you and Phil, not the Phil in Pa. once we sat for over an hour on our favorite beach laughing out loud at a toddler with a bucket. His dad dug a hole about 30 feet from the water and the toddler was filling it. he went back and forth with the little buck for over and hour, pouring the water in the hole and by the time he got back with more water it was empty. it was hilarious fun. he sloshed most of it out because he TODDLED

I vote for you and Phil to predict the weather. You would be more accurate I'm sure!!!! ha

Speaking of Spring, it is snowing like crazy here today. We already have about 2 inches and it's still coming down. SO---your shovel is still standing tall!!!! ha

Hugs,
Betsy

I may need to ask you to send Ella down here when she finishes your yard! It's snowing again here on the Plateau. I hope you'll let us know when Phil's shovel falls over so we can begin thinking warm thoughts.

Just found your blog and see that we share a love for nature, photography, Scripture and hymns. Some of my favorite lean-on verses come from Isaiah. Love your deer pics! I'll be stopping by to visit again!

Sweet photo of Ella and uniquely original way to tell when Spring arrives. ;-)
It DOES look cold there!
Hugs and blessings,

I've been sick and slow to get around the blogging world. You've been getting some great nature shots. And Ella is so sweet! We've had more snow as well this year, which I love...not the cold but the snow makes me happy. We're actually supposed to get into the low 50's this week...hopefully the sun will be out with that and I will sit on the porch and bake in the sun.

It looks like Ella is working hard to get rid of the snow and having fun at the same time. I am trying hard to push some of our warm weather over your way!

This design is incredible! You most certainly know how to keep
a reader entertained. Between your wit and your videos, I was almost moved to start my own blog (well, almost.
..HaHa!) Great job. I really loved what you had to say,
and more than that, how you presented it. Too cool!

Hey there, I think your site might be having browser compatibility issues.
When I look at your website in Firefox, it looks fine but when opening in Internet Explorer, it has some overlapping.
I just wanted to give you a quick heads up! Other then that, wonderful blog!
