A Real Knockout

These Knockout Roses are a real knockout! The ones in our neighborhood are blooming now, and there are lots. Knockouts are the fastest selling and most popular roses in America. This is partly due to their hardiness and disease resistance. They need no special care at all, like most other roses do. You might say that they are the soldiers among roses!

I am a soldier in the army of my God.
The Lord Jesus Christ is my Commanding Officer.
The Holy Bible is my code of conduct.
Faith, prayer and the Word are my weapons of warfare.
I have been taught by the Holy Spirit,
Trained by experience,
Tried by adversity
And tested by fire.

I am a volunteer in this Army,
And I am enlisted for eternity.
I will not get out,
Sell out,
Be talked out,
Or pushed out.

I am not a baby.
I do not need to be pampered,
Petted,
Primed up,
Pumped up,
Picked up,
Or pepped up.
I am a soldier.

I am not a wimp.
I am in place,
Saluting my King,
Obeying His orders,
Praising His name,
And building His kingdom!

No one has to send me flowers,
Gifts, food, cards or, candy.
I do not need to be cuddled,
Cradled,
Cared for, or catered to.
I am committed.

I cannot have my feelings hurt
Bad enough to turn me around.
I cannot be discouraged enough
To turn me aside.

Even death cannot destroy me.
For when my Commander
Calls me from this battlefield,
He will promote me to Captain
And then allow me to rule with Him.
I am a soldier in the Army,
And I’m claiming victory.

I will not give up.
I will not turn around.
I am a soldier,
Marching Heaven bound.

As for photo stealing, I just added a link for you in my comments.

Oh, and your 'Through the Wires' post is awesome too. Well done. The images are so good, I really didn't notice the wires.

these roses are named well. they are a knockout to look at and also can be knocked out by anyone like ME who kills all plants.

Love the way you connected the two soldiers, us --being soldiers for God, and the roses, being soldiers in their own way... Very creative, Ginny.

Have a great Memorial Day weekend--and stay cool (going to be almost 90 here).. Yipes!!!
Hugs,
Betsy

Very inspiring poem. Never seen that before. Those roses are truly beautiful. Thank you for celebrating my son's birthday with me! You are good, you noticed his sister peeking out! hehe. That is is "middle sister", she was 5 when he was born and he took away her "baby" status. You know, "she's my baby", therefore, there has been a bit of sibling competition through the years. His older sister was like his second mom, her nature to begin with is nurturing. When I lost my hearing she was only 12 but really became their "hearing" mom in many ways. I felt badly because on my blog, his aerial photos did not show how superior they were, but he appreciated the honor of being "blog subject of the day". How big was your son when he was born? I would love to see his baby picture! When is his birthday?
Blessings on your weekend.

You've shared some very beautiful roses with us. Unfortunately our roses require more work than these do. I also like the poem you shared with us.

when I see these two rose blossoms , I think of your two grands. Also you can do the YoYo disc with them Start with making hair accessories , and or you can decorate T-shirts.

Lace ones would be good for little girls. At one stage, girls had these floral discs at the outside of their socks.

Your roses reminded me of flavorful varieties of sherbert, a cool treat today with the thermometer on our porch showing 90 degrees.
