The Crescent

Last night we went back up on the hill, but no hawk. My blog friend Anni, who is an excellent birder, identified it as a Cooper's Hawk. And I agree. Maybe no hawk, but there was a beautiful crescent moon.

And the Chimney Swifts were flying right in front of it.

“…the crescent moon hung white in the sky and the stars burned in the darkness above them.”

Lovely photos!Ever since I was very small I have loved astronomy. The stars and the moon and sun fascinate me. I suppose because I know how they were created and who is solely responsible for them. Have a great week. HUGS axros the miles XO XO

You always get such fantastic photos of the moon no matter what phase it's in.

Wow Ginny...these moon shots are phenomenal. I THINK I like them better than your full moon photos. Lots more dramatic landscape. Are we not supposed to have a blue moon this month (or is October? I forget.)

This might be the prettiest Crescent Moon I've ever seen it's the right color and it's what I would use if I was coloring with crayons. And it's a perfect Crescent

I have been noticing the waxing crescent moon, while sitting in my comfy chair, in the hearth room. ~smile~

What a great shot you got of it! And of the swifts too.

So glad the Coopers Hawk was gone. ~Grin~

The moon is waxing now... Leading up to the Oct. 1st Full Harvest Moon. And another full moon in Oct.! Oct. 31st, the Full Hunter's Moon!!!!!! Wheeeeee.....

My son in Chicago called me to go take a shot but I live in an area that it is too low the sky. I will try to find it again tonight.
