The Egg and I

Last night we went to a Christmas party. The beautiful reflection of the chandelier on the ceiling fascinated me, I was mesmerized. So was everyone else, but their stares were at me, for continuing to get up and look at the ceiling so much! I know they thought I was nuts! Isn't our host's fireplace and mantel beautiful? We played lots of fun games. Here is Phil trying to roll a ping-pong ball down a long ruler, hoping it will land in the cup. But my favorite game was "Stand the egg on top of the lightbulb". These are cups holding lightbulbs, and you have five minutes to sprinkle some salt on two lightbulbs and then stand raw eggs atop them! I must say that I have finally found my area of talent! Because I got it with time left over!! O.K., you can see that Phil did, too. But his eggs are laying sideways, and I stood mine upright, a much harder balancing act to do! Now to put my egg-lightbulb genius to good use, any suggestions? I have never been able to figure out why people always wonder which came first, the chicken or the egg. It is simple to me. God created every living creature. He created the chicken, then it laid the egg.

And God said "Let the water teem with living creatures, and let birds fly above the earth across the expanse of the sky." So God created the great creatures of the sea and every living and moving thing with which the water teems, according to their kinds, and every winged bird acording to it's kind. And God saw that it was good. And God blessed them and said "Be fruitful and increase in number and fill the water in the seas, and let the birds increase on the earth."

Ginny, the reflections from that chandelier are indeed mesmerizing. I looked at it for awhile picking out the shapes, even a face.

I can't believe you got the egg to balance on the end, that is definitely talent.

I would never have figured out by myself what the eggs were balancing on. And what I still cannot figure out is how anyone came up with the idea in the first place! Please, be sure to report back to us if one day you find use for that skill outside of competition...! (LOL)

I agree the chicken came first and why. the chandelier lights would have made me do the same thing. it is magical looking. looks like a fun party to me, games and friends and a CL with a camera. nothing better than that. the egg background is perfect. is that in the background choice? i have not see it and some of your backgrounds are new to me. are you getting them somewhere else

What a pretty reflection. I would have been looking too. :)
It looks like you had a lot of fun at the party! I've never heard of that game before. I think your host must have been pretty brave to have a game like that with the risk of broken eggs everywhere!
Of course the chicken came first for the very reason you mentioned! :)

The ceiling reflection is really cool. I've never seen that egg balancing trick before. Well done, however I am really unsure how that skill will improve your life in the days to come. But who knows...

Good party games...that room looks so warm and inviting.
Now, what can you do with a talent like that? Next time you say you're clumsy - I'll know better!

Sounds like a fun, fun fellowship! Ok, were those eggs hard-boiled or raw and would that make a difference in their ability to balance once you steadied them on the lightbulb? I have an inquiring mind, LOL!!!! Great photos of all the fun!

Hi Ginny, Looks like a great time at the party. The light on the ceiling is very pretty. Good for you balancing the egg. I'm pretty sure I would have made a mess with my eggs!

I can see why you were so mesmerized by that ceiling. Beautiful! When I first saw it I wondered if the effect was caused by one of those German Christmas carousels. The games sound like a lot of fun, and it looks like everyone was having a fabulous time. Merry Christmas! Warmly, Jenn

I have never heard of that game before with the raw egg and the light bulb! I like Christmas parties, especially with people I know.

In answer to your comment on my blog, yes, the 52" picture tube is the biggest picture tube they make and I'm getting one - it will be awesome - you may not hear from me for a week or two LOL

Hi Ginny
Your friend's house looks lovely and it looks like you had a nice time at the party! The chandelier did make some very unusual refelctions...they look like storm clouds.

Great to have family fun.

Ginny, I am very excited. My appraiser rang me on Friday and told me that my submission showed my book was touching and it is worthwhile to continue.

I didn't feel excited on Friday. On Saturday, whehn my husband came back from abroad,he asked what it met. I said she met that the book was good enough. Then yesterday, at church, I started telling people. I am so excited.
