He who was seated on the throne said "I am making everything new!" Then he said, "Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true." Rev. 21:5
Growing up, my family had a saying that whatever you were doing on New Year's day, you would be doing for the rest of the year. Keeping that in mind, I would like you to be looking at something beautiful on New Years day. This is one of the prettiest trees I saw this year. I think the theme was New Orleans because it was very reminiscent of Mardi Gras. It may be too bright and tawdry for some, but I am rather like a crow, attracted to bright, shiny things. I will wait till tomorrow to post my New Year's eve happenings and my resolutions. Speaking of tomorrow, I don't know what all the fuss is about a New Year. To me, every morning is like a mini new year. A blank slate before us when we wake up. A chance to be thankful that we did wake up and can start anew. Over and over and over, all the days of our lives. Each one fresh and full of grace. Happy New Year!!!
"Because of the Lord's great love we are not consummed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfullness." Lam 3:22,23

Yes every new day is like a mini new year... The decorations are indeed glittery and they look attractive!! Wish you and Phil a very Happy New Year:-)
All I could think of as I scrolled through your beautiful photos was Mardi Gras. The masks and feathers are so colorful and festive.
You are so right Ginny, each day brings us new opportunities and surprises. But then New Year's Eve is a great excuse for a party I suppose. We enjoyed a quiet evening at home.
Happy New Year!
Judy
What an intriguing header with that mask. I would never have guessed they were hanging in a Christmas tree if you hadn't said so. Had to go back to the pictures and look again. Well, although each morning might be a mini new year, I'm certainly glad not every night is. (Having guests until after midnight and fireworks outside until after two in the morning.) Happy New Day to you Ginny!
Hah, I feel the same way, every day you wake begins a year of 365 days...which is why we don't go out but stay home and go to bed when we please; no pomp and circumstance, just wake up tomorrow and make it the best day you can!
I love the photos and wow! the magnificent colors! Have a wonderful blessed day no matter what you do :)
Wow! Ginny, you certainly brightened up my morning with those brilliant colors. We had company come in yesterday afternoon from out of state - friends we met in Africa - together with one of their daughters. I agree that each day is a mini-new year.,.and thank God that his Grace is new every morning.

You are so wise, Ginny! Of course every new is a new one and I wake asking God to help me best the best that I can be. Same thing I ask on new year's day!!

Hi Ginny, I knew you were posting a Mardi Gras theme when I looked at your header--and then at all of your pictures... We lived in New Orleans for 5 yrs. and enjoyed Mardi Gras and all of the hoopla all of those years.... The only thing you have missing on these pictures is a KING CAKE....
Yes---each day brings us a new beginning... BUT--starting a new year is even a BIGGER new beginning. Can you believe it is 1/1/11 today???
HAPPY 2011 to YOU.
Hugs,
Betsy
Hi Ginny, I to like those sparkles! Have an especially wonderful New Year!
The colors of the tree are amazing and I do love the masks. They are like the ones you see in movies for a masked ball scene. Not only is each day a new beginning it gives us 365 opportunities to strive to be all we can be. I hope you had a wonderful holiday and that the new year brings continued health and happiness. Blessings...Mary
Happy New Year, Ginny!
I agree with you that every new day is like a mini new year.
We need to make the most of every day!
I wish you and your family all the best this year! ♥
So thankful that His mercies are new every morning! We spend our evening with all our family. Precious time! Hubby and I were fast asleep even before midnight, but upstairs in the social room folks of the building were still enjoying fellowship and fireworks. "One person considers one day more sacred than another; another considers every day alike. Each of them should be fully convinced in their own mind." Romans 14:5
Love the peacock colors!
My mother always called me a magpie because I liked the shiny things in life. So, of course, I love your bright and so colorful decorations. Beautiful way to start the year!
Hi Ginny, very colorful photos :-)
Happy New Year From Southern California.
Don't forget to watch the 122nd Rose Parade on New Year's Day coming from Pasadena, California...only 30 miles from The Old Geezer's home :-) If you miss the live telecast, I'm sure there will be lots of reruns through out the day.

I really like your Mardi Gras tree -- it's a bright colorful way to start a new year. I also like the idea of each new day being a mini New Year.
I hope you and your family have a wonderful 2011.
Bright, festive, and beautiful...these masks. I find myself thinking the same thoughts Ginny. I'm thankful for each day!
Beautiful, colorful, fun, a great post to start the New Year. Ginny, I wish you and your family a New Year filled with beauty, fun, healthy and joy!
Beautiful post! Happy New Year, my friend!
I agree - maybe we are kindred spirits after all, Ginny! I like sparkly and glittery things just like a crow and I love the masks with the colorful sequence and fanciful feathers...lovely images.
That saying about what you do on New Years will be something you do throughout the year popped into my head this morning when I was shaving the callouses off my heels LOL thinking that I'm going to take better care of my skin, plus before that I was feeding the strays, so I guess I'll be feeding cats all year long and then I walked the dog - and so on and so on...oh, I talked to my family in Germany before walking the dog, so that's a nice thing for me to look forward to is to keep in touch with my family in Germany.
Happy New Year!
Love those pictures so bright and colorful.
I happen to agree with you about the idea of every day a being a new beginning. I always start the day out by thanking God for another chance to do it all again.

Where did you get all these masks, were you having a fancy dress party?
I didn't know crows like bright things, in Australia, they are unpopular birds.
