To be sung to the tune of "My Favorite Things"
Bad back and bad knee
And sinus infections
And every six months
I go for injections
I love all the comfort a heating pad brings
But these aren't a few of my favorite things!
Snowflakes that fall on
My nose and eyelashes
Just make me shiver
And give me red rashes
Silver white winters that melt into springs
And then it's the sneezing that hay fever brings
When the nose runs
When I weigh tons
When I'm feeling sad
I simply remember my blog followers
And then I don't feel so bad!
Have you been suffering from the flu or colds lately? Then this Christmas tree is for you! It is the tiny tree in our local drug store, you could say it's the Christmas tree for hypochondriacs! I posted it last year, and now they have put it up again. And because I think it's so hilarious, I had to show you again this year, with the little bonus of this poem I made up. Do you see what the ornaments are? Band-aid holders, medicine cups, and hypodermic needles! Too bad the tree looks too small to put a bedpan on the top! It sits on the pharmacy counter and I really can't tell if they are taking it seriously or not. Hmmm...perhaps the pharmasists have been working too hard and need a nice long rest.
"He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; by his wounds you have been healed...1 Peter 2:24

This is great - love that poem... chuckle, chuckle!
Ginny.. i love My Favourite Things in the Sound of Music.. u made it rhyme so beautifully.. u r indeed talented..
Yes, i need your healing tree to take away this flu of mine.. the winter in Korea is hitting me bad! :)
When I first saw the tree, I thought it was in a hospital. The first thing that attracted me was the syringe. We fed our late baby using a syringe like this to allow milk to flow into his nose. All this came back when i was writing my book.
ROFL... That is a hillarious little tree. And your poem is perfect. Hey it befits the flu season. I have had an awful cold and I probably could use that little tree right about now.
That tree is hilarious. I love your poem, it fits perfectly with the tree. So far no colds or flu here and even our snow is gone. It was almost sixty degrees here today ... but raining. Very strange weather for December.
That's too funny! And the first aid colours are remarkably seasonal :)
LOL! Ginny that is a riot! I am glad that you are able to see the wonderful blessings that the Lord brings anyways!
Love that tree and your wonderful poem Ginny! Stay warm today!
What a cute poem!! The tree is cute too.
Yes, we've all had colds already...no fun. Right now we all seem to be doing OK.
Hope you have a great week. ♥
Again, my morning is off with a laugh! I haven't seen this in our CVS. Perhaps I should do just such a tree for my pharmacist husband!!
Stay well = ) !!
Best,
Bonnie
Oh,I love your poem/song.I know I could join in with you. Were it not for God and His provision, where would we be?
Blessings,Ruth
You made me smile with this one! Thankfully I've escaped colds so far this winter but I used to get them a lot (including sinus infections) and allergy too. I think the pharmacist has a sense of humour - and so do you! Loved your poem. ;) Last year at our supermarket they had one tree decorated with dish-brushes, I think I blogged that one.
Your poem has gotten my day off to a smiling start. You are a clever gal. Have a fabulous day. Blessings...Mary
That's cute for the medical profession to put up a "healing" tree. But the tree Peter wrote about was the Real Healing Tree!
I think that the pharmacy should buy your poem and play it during the winter. We all need to stay healthy. This would be kind of like singing while you work - right?
BTW - Loved your poem too!
love the tree and that is a super poem you wrote and i did sing it and it is true. i told a friend this morning a good gift would be a week free of pain, she said she would take a half day free of pain. the price of getting old. in 1983 i was working in the ER of a county hospital. i said why don't we have a tree, the nurse said we have a little tree, but no ornaments. i said lets see what we can find and we decorated it until it groaned with things just like this one. the more we looked the more things we could hang. it was a big hit with the er patients.
forgot to say i love that tree inthe header and what is it? i love dead trees, this oneis wonderful
I really like your poem -- unfortunately there is just a little too much truth in it. The tree is cute also.
The tree in your header is fascinating! Your healing tree and the poem are just great - made me smile! Thanks for sharing and keep well!
Ginny, I love the jingle that you wrote!! That is just too funny! I needed smiles this morning and sure found them-ha! Hugs!
Cute poem....and tree....seems like lots of sniffles this time of year....
Cute poem, Ginny.... I laughed and laughed --because, as we get older, our health becomes much more of an issue.
Drug stores make their money off of people who get sick... I'm sure they don't want that to change---but on the other hand, there needs to be more ways that people can stay healthy--especially when it comes to colds and flu.... Yuk!!!!
Knock on wood but George and I have not been sick with a cold in several years... We swear by Vitamin C --1000. I buy it at Sam's --and we take one every single day. I'm sure we will get sick again sometime --but just staying as healthy as we have for several years is wonderful....
The drugstores need to put up a tree talking about ways to prevent colds:
-handwashing constantly
-good sleep habits
-healthy eating --and regularly scheduled meals
-exercise
-VITAMIN C--1000
How would this be for a real HEALING tree???? ha ha
Hugs,
Betsy
This made me laugh my head off : ) So funny! I LOVE it! And your poem? Out of this world fabulousa : )
Great little poem and tree ... no colds/flu here.
Oh Ginny your poem just made me smile. Too cute.
That is one cute tree too.
Hi Ginny, Yes it is fun! Your Pharmacy's management must be really interesting and happy people! Glad you shared it - it is new to me! Have a super nice evening and a very good day tomorrow. Stay warm!
Oh Ginny - this is too funny - I loved it. Not a bad idea to have one of these around. Love, sandie
I'm glad I'm not top heavy and the wise men weren't looking for a bed pan (ha ha)..What kind of tree is that or did I miss something? Looks medicinal..I think it's cool with the sharp blue background-
Love the poem.. :) :)
Ginny!!! You are a total riot. I wish we were neighbors. I would have full time laughter in my life. You sooooo have to share the picture with the song at CVS headquarters. Who knows? They might use it in a seasonal commercial next year.
This is so funny!I'd never have imagined a Christmas tree could be 'decorated' this way too!! And your poem? It's so apt! I could relate to several of the "ailments". Your posts are wonderful!!!
This is such a clever tree! Someone in the pharmacy dept. had a good imagination and lots of good humor to make it! :) I loved your jingle ...I can identify with many of the same ailments too!
