Watching The Children

We went to another children's Christmas program last night! This is the one that Ella is in. These programs are so adorable, touching, and funny. One of the little wise men had a crown problem, it kept sliding all the way down his face. As the audience howled with laughter, it only got worse because he could not keep it up and it covered his whole face. It is the fifth picture. Finally his teacher had to come on the stage and fix it. Yes, I admit that I got carried away with the pictures, especially the ones of Ella. But looking at her wonderful expressions, how was I to choose? This little girl gave it all she had, she knew every word of every song and belted them out loudly in a very hearttfelt and touching manner. She lived every story in the songs and just threw herself into it, it was an inspiration to watch. It is too bad that a lot of adults in church services seem bored with singing or don't sing at all, maybe they need to watch the children.

"Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these." Like 18:16

"I tell you the truth, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven." Matthew 18:3

They are all so cute, the crown is too funny. Ella really did get into the song, those expressions are priceless. I would have been taking dozens of shots too and then had trouble deciding which to post, these are all wonderful Ginny.

Ella is one darling diva. There's always at least one child that is hilarious--through planning or happenstance--and I give the award to the wiseman!

Best,
Bonnie

Thanks for all the good shots of Ella. I loved hearing her sing all those songs at home and do the motions, and I'm so glad she did at the program too.

I totally understand your not coming downstairs. It was quite crowded so there wasn't much room to visit. (or hear)

I'm at the airport in Charlottesville waiting for my flight. It doesn't leave till noon, so I have plenty of time to read blogs!

I don't think there is anything more precious than a children's Christmas pageant. The pictures of Ella are adorable, and I can understand why you took so many.

Hi Ginny, These pictures remind me of when my now grown up son was a little guy and costumed as an Angel during a church children's choir program. That was super fun since the kids had baseball caps from the California Angels team under their pipe cleaner halo's. Memories! I am glad you got to see Ella's program. Have a wonderful day!

I can just imagine what she is singing - "Oh Come Let us adore Him", "Glo-o-o-r-r-r-i-i-i-a-a-a-", "The Little Lord Jesus asleep on the hay" perhaps, or something akin to that. Sweet pictures. Bring back memories.

Those are great. The crown boy was adorable. So is your Ella. A lot of the ornaments on my kitchen tree are Hallmark that my mother in law has given me over the years. I didn't even think to look at them this year so I don't know if they are still continuing the series.

What a wonderful Christmas gift you just gave me-- laughter, joy and a heart full of gladness about these little ones and the adults who helped them prepare and present this performance! Thank you for NOT choosing and instead, posting all of these. Your documenting Ella's giving it her all is priceless. Your post is another precious thread in what is turning out to be a beautiful tapestry of celebrating Jesus' birth this year.

I would have taken just as many pictures of that adorable little face. It's always so fun to watch these kinds of things, the kids are so cute. You get the shy ones, the scared ones, the ones that are front and center and loving it. I wish I had little ones to go watch :)

In that one picture with her mouth wide open and looking up... you can tell she put her whole heart and soul into the music! And the poor little wise man... a little girl in one of my daughter's dance recitals had a similar problem... they had on granny hats and hers would not stay on... until she got it on too well, down over her face. Then it was hilarious... trying to dance and not being able to see where she was dancing.
