Proud As A Peacock

After being lost in Richmond for about an hour, we finally made it to the Gardenfest Of Lights, and the trip was worth it. The place is over 60 acres, and it takes them all year to put up the lights, different ones every year. The main theme this year seemed to be peacocks. My second picture is an upside down Christmas tree with a large white peacock on it. Then we have a peacock ornament, they were on sale in many different sizes, and I must admit I almost bought one. But the showcase was this huge peacock outside, it was so large that words fail me. It was stunning, and in the next to last picture you can see it reflected in the lake. The last picture is of the peacock tree they had last year. They seem to have a thing for peacocks. I wish they had real ones roaming the grounds in the summer!

So beautiful... I love the glitter and the shine and of course the cheer that is associated with Christmas...
I saw lots of real peacocks on my trip to Rajasthan, they are really majestic.. But could not capture them as they seem to be afraid of humans!!!

Re: Those sweets are made of condensed milk and are known as pedas.
Have a lovely weekend:)

I had to laugh at the upside down tree, the peacock probably didn't fit with it turned the other way. The peacocks are beautiful, this is a great theme. The one is lights is gorgeous, it must have been magnificent in person.

We have peacocks here in the local aviary (both white and blue) and they are fun to watch.

I never saw peacocks as Christmas decorations before. (Well, with all the strange Christmas animals I've been blogging about lately, who am I to speak...) They do fit into flashy displays though ;)
Now what I'm wondering is how do you get a Christmas tree to stand upside down? (LOL)

this is my most favorie of ALL your blog designs, the colors in the back ground and that header is fantasttic and it looks so HOLIDAY. i have a suggestion, i started doing it then forgot and stopped. when you have a fantastic header like this one, include it in the post, because when you change it people who come he nextday or in the future miss the best picture of all. headers are here today and gone tomorrow and if someone comes the next day they will miss this marvelous photo.

Hi Ginny, wonderful array of peacocks. The big colorful one is something else. Neat place to visit.

"Proud as a Peacock" is a saying I've heard all my life. I wonder how they figured out that the peacock is proud? Pride, I think, is a matter of the heart and only God can see the heart. Yet - we do recognize certain actions and words of people as being proud. Thanks for this thought provoking post.

I love seeing the creative ideas people come up with for decorations. I prefer a more traditional theme for myself but I still like to look at the more imaginative ideas.

Peacocks seem unusual as a Christmas theme. But they sure inspire a lot of beautiful colors. Glad you finally made it to the light display LOL

Wow, I've see peacocks and partridges as tree ornaments but I've never seen one in lights. The outside images are beautiful, but nothing compared to your header and background....absolutely stunning and the most beautiful holiday header I've seen! And you were saying on my blog that you don't have any creativity. Hogwash!!!

Wow - you changed your whole blog around - I love the vivid colors!

I think peacocks are just such beautiful creatures, especially the all white/or albino ones...when I lived in California, there was a park I frequented where the peacocks were just strutting around loose and they would perch on the trees or on top of the parking garages...it was like paradise.

I'm not into the new fad of upside down Christmas trees, but to each their own!

Thanks for showing us the lovely photos with all those sparkling colors! I love starkly things - I must be part crow LOL

I'm so amazed at the different kinds of decorations you have for Christmas. The peacock theme is very beautiful. I love the large one with the reflection.

About the hornbill you'd asked on my blog, yes...that's a bird.

Very imaginative theme for decorating at Christmas time!Certainly eye-catching! While only God knows a proud heart, whether person or animal, what's in the heart seems to spill over and is visible to others. It's only the peacock that is so showy and struts his stuff, his little peahen is plain and simple. We don't know if she's humble though!

Hi Ginny, That display must have been spectacular. So glad you enjoyed it! I do like Peacocks myself. There are several well-to-do neighborhoods in Southern California that have Peacocks roaming around. Have a great rest of the weekend.

Looks like fun and quite a show! I have a bit of bling in me I guess (ha) Peacocks are beautiful birds..just fabulous anyway. I think I'd like to see them roaming around too. I knew a couple over here who had a white one and the blue.
I'm planning on making a wreath with some feathers this year- pheasant though. Today (waiting on my son) and his girlfriend so we can go pick foliage so as to complete this project before it gets any later!

I keep saying Wow, but your pics are gorgeous! Beautiful lights

Yes, the peacocks are gorgeous. The botanical gardens here have a Christmas light show that you drive through in your car. A radio station plays carols matched with the lights and it is a lovely thing to see.

Hi Ginny. Peacock lights. How gorgeous. An upsidedown Christmas tree? Somehow that just seems so wrong. Peacocks as a main theme for decorating - LOVE IT.
