First Full Moon Of Spring

There was a full moon tonight, it's called the full Pink moon. This is because of the wild ground phlox, one of the earliest wildflowers of spring. It is also called the Egg Moon. It is the first full moon of spring! Do you know how they figure out when Easter is each year? From what I can understand, if the first full moon of spring is around a Sunday, then Easter is the next Sunday. And now I must confess that I cheated JUST a little!! This moon is from last night, about 24 hours earlier. It was just huge! But it sure looks full to me, and I could not get a picture of it tonight. Plus, it's always so nice to turn time backwards when you have the chance.

"The sun will no more be your light by day,

nor will the brightness of the moon shine on you,

for the Lord will be your everlasting light,

and your God will be your glory.

Your sun will never set again,

and your moon will wane no more;

the Lord will be your everlasting light,

and your days of sorrow will end."

Isaiah 60:19,20

Yeah, it's a beautiful moon! We're probably thousands of miles away from each other but I saw the same moon about 2 days ago. I love the grandeur.

I never knew Easter had a relationship with the moon.

Great picture of the moon, Ginny. Egg moon, huh???? Interesting...

I know that the determination of when Easter comes each year does have something to do with the moon --but it is quite complicated to figure it out.

Hugs,
Betsy

I watched the moon this morning at 5:55 a.m. - full and beautiful! Many people, including me, are affected in strange ways by the cycles of the moon. I did know that Easter arrives the first Sunday after the first full moon of spring! It was fun to watch it set, while in the east the sky was turning a beautiful pink for the rising sun! Just don't have a good camera to catch that!

The Lord will be our everlasting light! Awesome!!

Have a great day! Off to work I go!

I'm always thankful when we don't have school around a full moon...the natives seem to get so restless, as in the children; just something about that!

They are lovely photos of the moon! Thanks for the lovely sentiment...

Ginny thank you for all the sweet comments on my blog. They make my day! You are right it does bring back memories of that tough time but also it reminds me to NEVER take life and people for granted. When I think back I am reminded of God's mercy and his willingness to carry my burden when I couldn't bear it. Blessings, Joanne

Well I didn't know they called it the egg moon, or even the pink moon. I had heard once about how they figure out when Easter is but didn't remember that.f

We came home from my sister's family and the moon was so beautiful..Your photos are just excellent!! Info was fun as usual.
Well I found this to be interesting too-
"the Hebrew calendar used by the ancient Israelites and the modern Jews today is a lunar calendar. And in this lunar calendar, the "months" represent complete cycles of the Moon's phases. In this way, each date of the month represents a certain phase of the Moon, so that the same phases will fall on the same date from month to month.
So when the LORD commanded Israel to celebrate Passover on the evening of the fourteenth day of the first month, it was understood that this day was two weeks after the New Moon, which is to say, the night of the Full Moon of the first month. The Passover is called "pesech" in Hebrew, and in the Greek of the New Testament, this word is rendered as "Pasch." For this reason, the Full Moon of Passover is called "The Paschal Moon."
I wanted to make this shorter but too tired to mess with it?
