Goodnight Moon

This barn is about twenty minutes from our house. It has looked like this for many years, and is in good shape considering how old it is. It always seems unused and deserted. There is something called "Pumpkin House" directly across the road from it, but that no longer functions either. My theory is that it was used as an autumn storehouse for the fall harvest, maybe for pumpkins. But for now, all you would hear is the sound of the wind blowing through it...

"God made the earth by His power;
he founded the world by his wisdom
and stretched out the heavens by his understanding...
He sends lightening with the rain
and brings out the wind from his storehouses."

I really like the design someone painted on the side of the building. It's kind of sad that it's no longer in use. I imagine at one time it was a very busy place each fall.

I love old barns and usually take pictures of as many as I can. I like your idea of what the bard was used for and most likely it was. I find a lot of places especially this year have closed up. We have what is called here pumpkin days, each year it has always been in the same spot, everyone tries to grow the largest pumpkin, the kids have games to play, fun stuff.

Neat graffiti if you ask me.

I wonder if they kept the hay-ride in there? The sign seems to be holding up better than the buildings. Cool!

Seems like there is an untold story there. How great that one day we will learn the "rest of the story" of life at the Master's feet!

Someone put a lot of work into something that is now abandoned. That is a very pretty mural on the side of the barn. Thanks for sharing it with us.

Wonderful! For me it brings to mind Linus in the 'Peanuts' comic strips, waiting for the Great Pumpkin.

That's one that I've missed driving around your area. I would have remembered for sure.

We had a house in our neighborhood that had a big fancy sun painted on the side wall. It was there for years and my kids - me too - loved it. Then one day, the house was sold and the sun was painted over. I can still see the shadow, though.

Hi Ginny, At least the owners have made the old buildings attractive through the use of seasonal art. Good for them! I like the verse with todays post. You always choose interesting and appropriate verses or poems or captions to go with your posts. Wonderful writing. Have a great evening and a good day tomorrow!

Love that! Cannot belive it is no longer used. When I was was working we did travel neat places on my vacation time. Last year we took my dream trip of 2 month just traveling around the US. As far N as into Michigan and West as Iowa and all the states around that area. This trip is much smaller. I am a Yankee girl born in Sept. Foliage season is everything to me and I so want to feel the cool air and see some foliage. I love road trips anywhere. We do go to New Orleans in Feb just before Mardi Gras for a couple nights. But now that I am retired, that both of us, the big trips are most likely over. Thank you for asking. Thank you for praying for my friend. We go back to living on the same street during childhood and being best friends through school. Very hard. Blessings,
Lynn

I was telling my sister about that barn and she knows where it is--on Rt 11? On the way to the Dayton Farmer's Market?

May be you can ask the owner if you can host a barn dance. It will be fun for Ann-Marie.

It is sad to see farm buildings abandoned and go unused, but the design on this barn is very cute.
