Semis And Leaves

Come along with us on our journey over Afton Mountain on Rt. 64. The 18 wheeler will be your tour guide! Well, we couldn't shake him, so I decided to just include him in the pictures!  We just returned a few hours ago, and I was one happy girl to see such pretty trees. Guess it IS true, life is not about the destination, but it's about the journey!

Gee, what a beautiful header!! You just posted. Well, I know exactly what you mean..sometimes it's hard to get away form cars or worse yet, electric lines! I can see just how beautiful your drive was- words are so true, thanks:)

Beautiful scenery! The one time I followed a semi for over an hour was a most profound experience! Traveling up north, a sudden blizzard hit with visibility extremely low and wipers almost not able to keep up. Because I could not make out the left or right of the highway, I followed in the tracks left by the semi. It seemed to me that he knew the right pace and his way. These guys are so experienced even in that kind of weather. I still thank the Lord for sending this trucker to help me. An hour of driving and the blizzard became half as bad and I was able to relax my icy grip on the steering wheel, because now I could make out trees and signs along the road and travel more safely.

Fantastic colours. We're getting past the most colourful time here now, some of the trees have dropped most of their leaves.

when I was growing up in Borneo, we didn't have big trucks and containers. When my friend drove us in Canada, and USA, he said he was afraid of the "air" pushing him from the big truck. I always think of him when I drive along side a big truck.

Ginny, I only hope the driver of U45870 enjoyed the view as much as y'all did -- and as much as we are enjoying it, thanks to your photos.

Your experience is a good life lesson. You could've been perturbed at the traffic ahead of you and focused your entire trip on the plain white semi. However, you focused instead on the beautiful scenery God had planted all around you, and you accepted the semi as part of your environment for the trip. Isn't that what life is all about? We can focus on the negatives and be miserable, or look for the beauty around us and enjoy -- AND make the world more enjoyable for others!! =)

Oh Ginny, I have said the same thing all month! We had such a great time and for this Florida girl, being able to get away from Florida and enjoy Fall like the rest of the country and the way I grew up in the NE is such a blessing. When my children were young, I never saw foliage for 20 years after I left NY state. This is a huge reason Terry trys to find ways we can vacation in Oct for a few weeks. He knows where my heart is in Oct! Just yesterday coming down I 40 from TN to Ga there was a semi in my way trying to get the "perfect picture". Going up the hills Terry could pass, going down, those semi move! So I too just made him part of the picture. I think yours came out better! Blessings,
Lynn
