Still The Moon

"The lark's on the wing;
The snail's on the thorn;
God's in his heaven-
all's right with the world!
Robert Browning

Time has been out of control for me for a long time. It just speeds by at a scary pace. A small example is our water heater. It has sprung a leak and we need a new one. I had been referring to it as the new water heater, because I believe it to be only about eight years old. No, the repair man said we put it in over twenty years ago, ouch!!!! Does this happen to any of you? So Friday afternoon found me leaving the Cancer Center, still not believing it had been seven years since my friend had first gotten cancer. Not believing that Phil is having another stress test this Tuesday. The new yogurt shop was small consolation. But on the way home I chanced to look up, and this is what I saw. There was still the moon, a constant, not seeming to be subject to time. God was still in heaven and in control.

"I look up at your macro-skies, dark and enormous, your handmade sky-jewelry, moon and stars mounted in their settings. Then I look at my micro-self and wonder, why do you bother with us? Why take a second look our way?"
Psalm 8:3    The Message

Our girls are always teasing me about my LACK of time realization. I think something was 7 months ago and it was really 2 years ago. I thought time would slow down once the kids were out of the house. NOPE. Beautiful moon! I'm so thankful that God is faithful and unchanging!

Daily life always seems to speed up for me the last two months of the year. At one time we celebrated Halloween, my birthday, Thanksgiving, our daughter's birthday, my dad's birthday, our son's birthday, and Don's birthday all in the space of six weeks with all culminating in Christmas. January was recovery, pure and simple.

Here's a little night prayer that honors the moon as God's light.

Good night, good night.
Far flies the night.
And still God's love
Shall flame above
Making all bright
Good night, good night.

I used to say this to Krista every night for prayers when she went to bed.

what kind of hot water heater do you have? We have the big cylinder, and now I have a hot water cupboard so I don't need to use my dryer as much.

Time does seem to fly by, I still can't figure out what happened to summer. My theory is there is some little gremlin that speeds up the clocks and moves the pages on the calendar when we aren't looking. :D

Beautiful shots of the moon Ginny.

Yes, it does happen. Sometimes we get attached to some things so much that we forget its age...
And the moon is gorgeous as ever, the God is indeed in control...
Have a fabulous week ahead Ginny:)

So true! And for me the worst is with the children of relatives oracquaintances that I see rarely. The children are still adorable toddlers in my head, but oh no! They are starting college or married with a toddler of their own. At least the hot water heater is not shocked by your personal time warp! Enjoyable . . . and helpful post.

Now I have a song in my head...
"Ain't it funny.. how time slips away?"

Time does fly and I always have to do the math in my head, remember certain events, to get my time right. My dad was great at remembering dates and time, but I was not gifted with that. Seems like every day there's an appointment with one doctor's office or another lately. It is such a comfort to me to know that our God is still the same yesterday, today and tomorrow and He will never leave us or forsake us. Nice shots of the moon as a reminder!

i like the message of the scripture in tech talk, it is a verse I have always loved. the moon looks like someone smushed in on side of it, beautiful and a great shot again. you do such great moon shots. i am praying for you and Phil and your friend. hugs

I am sorry - have I missed something - does Phil have cancer?? How did I miss that?

I have the same fastness in life - my neck hurts sometimes from the speed of watching it go by.

But what a beautiful analogy of the moon being constant - just like God.

Awesome.

I'm still wondering how our boys grew up so fast! Today is our youngest son's birthday. Seems like yesterday we were having little friends in to celebrate in some fun way.

Best,
Bonnie

Yes, I experience that "time lapse" phenomenon on a regular basis. I can hardly believe it has been _____ years since I started working, or _____ years since we left for Africa, or _____ years since we were married. Etc and etc ad infinitum! ☺

Time does fly - and not just when you're having fun. The older I get the faster it flies.

You and the moon have a thing going on. Whenever I see the moon I wonder if you're looking at it, too.

God is still in heaven and still in control, and you've gotten some great pictures of part of his handiwork.

What a comfort to know that God is constant and does not even change like the moon.
Your pictures are excellent.

Hi Ginny, that's a terrific moon shot! I'm always amazed at how fast time goes. Sometimes what I think has only been a couple of years and it turns out to be 10 or 12 is shocking. How can that be? And I'm still not sure how I got to be the age I am...ha!
Have a great day!

I recently found something in the fridge that expired 2 years ago. And I clean out my fridge regularly! Apparently I'm not doing such a good job, lol!

The verse from Psalms certainly puts things in their right order. Prayers that all will be well for all of you.

I like SquirrelQueen's theory. LOL!
Nice photos Ginny. I forgot to post my recent photos of the moon. :)

What gorgeous photos, Ginny. I think we all inadvertently play with the calendar and clock. My oldest daughter will forever be 25 to me. I can't quite embrace her real age :-). You asked about the men in the countryside of Turkey. They gather at a coffee house and play checkers or backgammon. The same thing happens in India. I hope you have a great day. Blessings...Mary

My concept of time seems to be all askew any more. Things that happened years ago I feel like it was just a couple months. It's comforting to know that God is still in control even when we aren't

Hi Ginny, Have I ever told you that your moon shots are as good as NASA"s? Just kidding of course but they are extra-nice! Have a fantastic Wednesday tomorrow!

Praying for you both - and yes, thankfully - God is always ever present and always in control.

Yes, I agree time seems to be speeding up with every year - while at the same time, it sometimes seems to stand still.

Why does He..I've asked myself that. Thoughtful post-
Yes that does happen!
I didn't even think about Phil..I'm sorry and hope he is OK! Time is moving so fast..I'm trying to keep up and seems like a constant adjustment!
