Happy 70th, My Love

Today is my husband's 70th birthday, so I thought I would show you some of the many faces of Phil. Have I gone overboard? No, you only get one 70th! He is the love of my life, and I have been so blessed to spend over forty years with him. His three favorite things are bible studies, tennis, and chess. He would never tell you this, but he has many tennis and chess trophies. He has taught Sunday School forever, and he enjoys playing the piano and accordian. We are having celebrations Sunday and Monday both, and on my next post, I'll show you some of that. This is the one bible verse that comes to mind when thinking of Phil.

"Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs." 1 Cor. 13:4

Happy birthday to Phil!!!!! I loved seeing the photos. It tells me something about Phil and I know I'd like him.

To answer your questions (I never know whether to answer the question on my blog or go to the blog of the asker): rosti is, I think, Swiss. Grated potatoes that are sauteed in a pan and turned out nice and brown. Emmentaler is swiss cheese that's a big more flavorful than what we usually see in the market.

Julius Meinl is an old, old, coffee house in Austria. They came to Chicago about ten years ago. Now they've opened a second one. In addition to coffee, they serve breakfast, lunch and dinner--kind of on the light side. And they serve the most wonderful Viennese pastries you can imagine.

Now get busy baking Phil his favorite cake and show us a photo.

Best,
Bonnie

You know Ginny..the one of him snoozing on the couch is hilarious just after the others! Is that your son he's playing chess with? I have to be reminded sometimes:)) I'll be looking forward to your next post..btw, what a sweet verse you used as a tribute too-

He is one of few men you can truly say is a godly man. I've never seen him angry even when it was merited(congregational mtgs possibly)and knows his bible backwards and forwards. Makes me proud to know him!

Happy Birthday, Phil. Through your posts, Ginny, I know that he is one special man. These photos bear witness to that. And, I agree with the comments that he doesn't look 70! It must be the smiling that keeps you young.
Hope all your celebrations produce many smiles, laughter and fun.
