Blue Ridge Sunset

So God reveals at sunset
The grandeur of his throne
The deeper, fuller glory
Reserved to be our own
And in that hour's unfolding
Forgot are fear and pain
In love's abiding solace
In heaven's great refrain

Then come, blest hour of sunset
Along the golden way
And thrill us with the splendors
That fill life's perfect day
God is the end of living
He satisfies the soul
And they who seek his glory
Will find in him their goal
Calvin W. Laufer

Yes, I have printed the words to this hymn before, but I love it and it suits my pictures, which are unfiltered from March 4. Bluer than blue.

"The heavens declare the glory of God;
the skies proclaim the work of his hands.
Day after day they pour forth speech;
night after night they display knowledge.
There is no speech or language
where their voice is not heard.
Their voice goes out into all the earth,
their words to the ends of the world.
Psalm 19:1,4

I've seen it and you've captured it. Bravo! You make me feel like I am back home for a little bit most mornings. How about some of that low lying fog skittering across the farm fields or rain dancing on some of those wonderful tin roofs on farm houses?

Best,
Bonnie

Now I see (especially from your pictures) why they call it the "blue" ridge mountains! Incredible.

Ginny,
When my son was very little, say three or four..we'd be on our way to day care' preschool as the sun was shining it's brilliant colors and he'd say to me, 'God painted a pretty sky today!'
I can not see a sunrise or sun set without thinking of his lovely words...
So to you, 'God painted a pretty sky today!'

Awesome - every time I see these photos I want to pack up and move ... and then I remember it costs money to move and it's soooooo exhausting!

Lovely photos - did you go there recently?

Such a beautiful pink and blue sunrise, Ginny. The Blue Ridge Mountains lived up to their name. They are the perfect illustrations for Psalm 19:1,4

Almost all of my shots of the Blue Ridge.. when we went to Peaks of Otter and all up and down the parkway... they always seem to turn out blue tinged... hence their name I presume. Lovely.
